Bjarke Falgren
Many highlight the award-winning and 4-time Danish Music Award winner Bjarke Falgren as a fiddler who, like few others, can make his 300-year old gypsy violin almost speak. And like few can bring out smiles and emotions with his expressive
playing.
Falgren is an artist with a tone entirely his own and a truly original expression. He is now ready with his second album under his own name: “Turkis”—a color that symbolizes connectedness, which is exactly what Bjarke is seeking: to bring people together across borders and cultures. Music is something we share and experience together.
The music is new, vibrant, and sensual, while at the same time sensitive and playful, yet always strongly rooted in musical traditions and in the timeless, universal power of a great melody.
About the music
Together, his band—consisting of some of the finest musicians in Scandinavia—brings Bjarke’s original compositions to life in the best possible way, taking the listener on a journey through the entire emotional spectrum. From the lyrical and melodic to the virtuosic, playful, and raw, swinging expression.
The music is rooted in jazz and seasoned with elements from a wide world of music, including Latin, folk, and classical influences.
“With Bjarke Falgren’s group, a passionate, moving, present, and swinging concert experience of the highest caliber is guaranteed.”
Bjarke tours worldwide and has released 13 albums with various projects. In addition, Bjarke writes and produces film and theater music and has taught at music conservatories in his home country Denmark and abroad.
