About Me
Retired Psychotherapist, voluntarily hosting a jazz show in a free radio and organising noncommercial Jazz concerts.
Born 1965, first i heard folk and classical music in my parents home. On the radio, i listened to mainstream Pop and Rock - but once, new albums of Albert Collins and Son Seals were presented! As a teenager, i began playing drums and listened to every jazz record collection i could reach and read books about Jazz, music, literature and arts. As a student of psychology in Marburg, Hessen, i wrote for town magazines and newspapers about concerts and CDs. 1995 i began paticipating in the local initiative for a free radio in Marburg called “Radio Unerhört Marburg”, our regular program started 1997. Thus my Jazz show “Jazz-Zeit” (every Sunday evening) turns 30 next year. Mostly i play current Jazz-CDs from nearly all over the world, sometimes musicians visit the show. Concert tips for the region are included. In the town where i worked (Bad Hersfeld), i'm organising Jazz concerts in a socio-cultural center called “Buchcafe”. I'm honored to be a member of “Radio Jazz Research”, a group of leading german-speaking Jazz journalists, musicologists, festival organizers and label managers. Since two years, i'm part of the critics poll of the “Downbeat” also.
