Jeremy Rose

Sydney saxophonist/composer Jeremy Rose is interested in expanding dialogues between music disciplines, styles and cultures. He has released over a dozen albums of original music with his various collaborative and solo projects including The Vampires, The Strides, Jeremy Rose Quartet, Compass Saxophone Quartet and the Earshift Orchestra. Jeremy has performed at festivals, venues and concert halls throughout Australia, Europe and the UK, and has recently collaborated with guitarists Lionel Loueke and Kurt Rosenwinkel. The media has reported that Rose is ‘a bold, emerging Aussie voice’ (Limelight), that ‘his playing shows subtle glimpses of a mature master’ (The Australian), and that his ‘compositions are ruthlessly crafted affairs, with sufficient variety to bring out different aspects of everyone’s playing” (SMH). Jeremy’s numerous accolades include the 2015 APRA Professional Development Award for Jazz, two Bell Awards, a two-time Freedman Jazz Fellowship Finalist, an ARIA nomination and an Australian Music Prize short-listing. In 2016 Jeremy curated the inaugural APRA Song Hub for Jazz in Berlin with US guitar luminary Kurt Rosenwinkel, and was guest soloist-composer with both the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Modern Music Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra. In 2017 Jeremy was selected for the prestigious Art OMI Residency in New York.
