About the Album

"Object" is the first track from singer/composer Sara Serpa's new album "Close Up." Inspired by experimentation and changing identities, the album presents the compelling configuration of voice, saxophone and cello, exploring Serpa's own compositions. Joining Serpa are a stellar trio featuring two innovative improvisers with distinct musical personalities: saxophonist Ingrid Laubrock, one of the most significant voices in contemporary jazz and improvised music, and Downtown veteran cellist Erik Friedlander. The result is an album that resembles a high-resolution photograph, a mesmerizing play on the idea of close-ups: the compositions, the musicians and their roles within the trio, and the recording process.

Tracks

Object; Passaros; Sol Enganador; The Future; Listening; Storm Coming; Woman; Quiet Riot; Cantar Ao Fim.
