About the Album
In 2007 two of the most enduring figures in creative music, Myra Melford and Satoko Fujii, collaborated for a piano duet record. Now their long overdue encore, “Katarahi,” is finally out. Both pianists contributed compositions to this session. These two together are like a force of nature, creating thrilling, cogent music to awe listeners. “Chalk” is a lyrical Melford composition that grows in intensity as it continues and allows for both pianists to forge their own path through the music.
