Robin McKelle: Introducing Robin McKelle
Accompanied by a big band that features many of LA's top sidemen, Robin McKelle sings from the Great American Songbook on this solo recording debut. It's an excellent choice. The songs seem to be an integral part of her personality.

McKelle interprets "Dream with a subtle caress, "I've Got the World on a String with a glad-happy attitude, and "The Lamp is Low with seamless phrases that flow evenly on high. Her interpretations and those of her orchestra recall tender memories that we associate with Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Count Basie.

She sings "Come Rain or Come Shine with a slow and sensual demeanor that cries out with deep feeling. The band complements with a swingin' arrangement that features section conversations. Reaching high and low, McKelle's full vocal range gives this track outstanding marks in musicianship. Her choice of "Yes, My Darling Daughter provides a comfortable swing setting to balance the program. McKelle's genuine interpretation offers something for everyone.

Featuring superior solo work from trumpeter Willie Murillo, trombonist Andy Martin, tenor saxophonist Pete Christlieb, guitarist Larry Koonse, alto saxophonist Bob Sheppard and clarinetist Gary Foster, Introducing Robin McKelle is highly recommended for its pleasant rhythmic swing and casual big band balance, plus the singer's intuitive grasp of these memorable songs.
