Tedeschi Trucks Band At Red Rocks

Read "Tedeschi Trucks Band At Red Rocks" reviewed by Geoff Anderson

Tedeschi Trucks Band Red Rocks Denver, CO July 29-30, 2022 The international COVID lockdown was a burden on everybody. Musicians were especially hard hit with no ability to play live and sing for their supper. Many hunkered down and, after some time processing the initial shock of it all, got to work priming the creativity pump. In the case of the Tedeschi Trucks Band, they brooded. No concerts, not even the ability to ...

Tedeschi Trucks Band with Hot Tuna and The Wood Brothers Red Rocks Amphitheater Denver, CO July 29-30, 2017 The Tedeschi Trucks juggernaut continues to snowball. The band's inaugural Denver concert in November 2011 was at the Fillmore Auditorium; capacity 3,000. The venue quickly shifted to an annual summer show at Red Rocks; capacity 9,000. Their first show at the iconic amphitheater didn't sell out, but that changed quickly and sell-outs became then norm. Then, this ...

Tedeschi Trucks Band Red Rocks Denver, CO July 25, 2014 Never underestimate the power of a cover. A cleverly selected and well executed cover tune can be like a firecracker with a too-short fuse, a shot of vodka when you expected water, a lightning bolt out of a clear, blue sky. The Tedeschi Trucks Band threw a lightning strike with its very first song Friday night, July 25, at Red Rocks, exhuming Traffic's “Who Knows ...

Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Vogue Theater

Tedeschi Trucks Band Vogue Theater Vancouver, BC November 8, 2013 Jazz has always taken from the pop music of its day and culturalized it, intellectualized it, added some soul or swing and for those who are capable, added the personalized artistic X factor that is unique to that artist's DNA. Not that simple by any means, of course. Today, the younger rock generation often wishes they were around when the Rolling ...

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Made Up Mind

Read "Made Up Mind" reviewed by Doug Collette

Tedeschi Trucks Band's debut, Revelator (Sony Masterworks, 2010), was a marvel of modern blues-rock. Songs deeply rooted in genre tradition ultimately comprised a deeply felt personal statement by the dual leaders of the group, guitarist Derek Trucks and vocalist/guitarist Susan Tedeschi. The group's sophomore album, Made Up Mind, not surprisingly, radiates an even more mature sense of style. Placing the title song first may seem an obvious ploy to set a tone, but the sequencing works: Tedeschi's singing, as ...

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Made Up Mind

Read "Made Up Mind" reviewed by John Kelman

In so many ways, Tedeschi Trucks Band has bucked the odds: a band, on paper, doomed to fail and yet, here it is with its second studio recording, after the 2011 debut, Revelator and 2012 live album, Everybody's Talkin' (both, Sony Masterworks). In these days of escalating touring costs, the idea of an eleven-piece rock/soul/blues band being not just viable but successful would seem impossible. Then there's the decades-old unwritten rule: never date--or, worse, marry--one of your band mates.

Tedeschi Trucks Band: Made Up Mind

Read "Made Up Mind" reviewed by C. Michael Bailey

Since the assimilation of the Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks bands into the eleven-member Tedeschi Trucks Band, the group has worked, creatively speaking, non-stop. The band debuted with 2011's Revelator (Sony Masterworks) followed by the live set, Tedeschi Trucks Band Live: Everybody's Talkin' (Sony Masterworks, 2012), and its requisite tour, reviewed within these electrons. The band releases its second studio recording with a hint that it has acquired its musical sea legs, forging ahead with a confidence ...
