This is not an unbiased review. That needs to be said from the outset. Payola changed hands to ensure that this review was written. The press release for Minted--the fourth album from Scotland's Brass Jaw--arrived accompanied by cash. An obvious bribe. Painted to resemble an eye, but still quite obviously coin of the realm. Branded is Brass Jaw's third album since baritone saxophonist Allon Beauvoisin formed the band in 2005. It appears at the end of a hectic year for the Scottish quartet which has included performing at the Rochester Jazz Festival, and gathering great reviews for its series of London Jazz Festival gigs.
