Album Description

Quintessentially Philly tune composed by Gretchen Elise to promote sales of a raffle basket donated to an arts center where her band was playing. The catchy beat and interactive hook which makes everyone "Wake up and Jump" has been described as “Soca-rific!” (A.D. Amorosi, @dosage magazine). Gretchen embarked on a years-long quest to license the tune to convenience store giant Wawa, and independently released the song with video at an online get-out-the-vote-event in October 2020. Homer Jackson, Director, Philadelphia Jazz Project, declares: “Perfect tune!!! Exudes your intent. Exudes Wawa’s intent too...The only worry is if the company has the guts to go with the power of the Afro-Caribbean vibe of the song. But, isn’t coffee Afro- Caribbean anyway? Again, brilliant thought... brilliant execution. Good luck... they'd be foolish not to grab this.”
