Album Description
Animali Notturni is Marco Stagni's new Italian-Austrian project, created with musicians who are similar in language and cohesive from a long shared musical practice. You are sitting there, the faint light reflecting in the vinyl, and your turntable, that reliquary of vibrations, seems ready to unleash a restless rustling of sounds; welcome to the world of "Nocturnal Animals", an ancestral forest, wrapped in the darkness of the night, where shadows intertwine with the moonlight. Here, Marco Stagni, double bass player and pulsating mind of the Italian-Austrian project, evokes fairy-tale spirits and guide animals, transporting us on a journey that oscillates between primitive instinct and placid intellect, between fear of the unknown and the serenity of belonging to nature. With dilated pupils and alert senses, the quartet moves furtively, ready to spring, the music is the song of mysterious creatures whose melody winds through the trees, swarms under a carpet of leaves, like a whisper carried by the wind. “Animali Notturni” is a dialogue between the rhythms of life and the silences of thought, in which the music proceeds by slithering like a snake among the echoes of the subconscious, each note is a wad of mystery, each solo a cry, each silence an opening to listening to one’s own beating heart. Let the vinyl slide, “Animali Notturni” invites you to discover the magic that lies in the darkness, to celebrate the beauty of the unknown and to enjoy the life that teems beneath the surface. ______ Marco Stagni conceives jazz in its broadest sense of attitude towards music, an approach in which interplay and improvisation are an essential part of what is performed, every time. Although Son of a musician, he approached music out of his personal curiosity to know sound and its forms, he deepened his awareness over time through a unique educational and practical experience which took him from punk to Cuban music and contemporary jazz. Having graduated in jazz double bass at the Trento conservatory, he is currently a teacher of electric bass and double bass at the Cesfor in Bolzano. Over the years he has had the opportunity to collaborate with many musicians of different backgrounds, taking advantage of his flexibility and the richness of a polyglot musical sensitivity. He has performed throughout Europe, in Brazil, in the USA, in the United Kingdom, in Cuba, playing in prestigious institutions such as Bataclan, Cafè de la Danse in Paris, the Paradiso in Amsterdam, as well as the Austrian Parliament and the Porgy and Bess in Vienna . Furthermore, he is a member of the Euregio Jazzwerkstatt, a collective of musicians (Austria-Italy-Switzerland) founded and promoted by the Südtirol Jazz Festival
