Album Description

Reunited after Shir Yedidot, bassist Yosef Gutman Levitt and ECM pianist Yonathan Avishai spent two days in a Jerusalem studio listening to each other. Many of the pieces began as patterns and improvisations between bass and piano and were shaped afterwards, with melodies applied and Gilad Ronen's woodwinds layered on top. The album moves between Levitt's own compositions and melodies from the Yemenite and Moroccan Jewish repertoire, among them Dror Yikra, Nin'alu and Hareshut. It is instrumental, with a few spoken lines of Levitt's poetry on four of the fourteen tracks. Recorded in Jerusalem; mixed and mastered by Stefano Amerio at Artesuono Recording Studios, Italy.
