Album Description

This song, called "N'gina," is sung by the Ngonis of Eastern Zambia and is a significant part of the N'wala Ceremony. The N'cwala Traditional Ceremony is responsible for preserving Ngoni Culture across several countries, including Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. It is celebrated on the last Saturday of February each year, under the patronage of Ngwenyama, lnkosi Yama Nkosi Paramount Chief Mpezeni IV. During the ceremony, the Ngoni people praise the Lord for providing them with fresh crops in the fields and commemorate their victories in tribal wars during their migration from present-day South Africa. The Ngoni people are an ethnic group living in various regions of East and Central Africa, including Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, and areas around Lake Victoria. Their ancestral home is in the St. Lucia Bay area, located northeast of the Umfolozi river and north of Sugar Loaf in the South African Province of KwaZulu Natal, originating from the Ndwandwe Nation led by Zwide KaLanga.
