Album Description
The Albany Jazz Band began 30 years ago as a hobbyist community practice group In 2013, they recorded their first album, AJB Alive 2013, for family and friends. Since then, with Bob Levenson as Musical Director, Richard Kalman as Vocal Director, the band has broadened its repertoire and embraced more challenging contemporary arrangements. This Album, Moonlight Rhapsodies, is the culmination of years of practice with novel, exciting repertoire. This recording showcases performances that range from the classic to the modern era with remarkable cohesion, musical sensitivity, and technical mastery. Each track reveals a new shade of the many moods of love, moving between delicate, intimate moments and electrifying ensemble power, always performed with clarity, balance, and impeccable coordination.
