Album Description

"Lucio, dove vai? This project came about somewhat by chance a year ago, as often happens with the most beautiful things in life. This album aims to be a snapshot of a year spent with the voice and music of Lucio Dalla; a collection of songs made of poetry and freedom, which carried me away to an ideal home where I have never lived, but which I have always known, as in my most intimate dreams. Each of these songs preserves an unyielding, uncompromising, anarchic soul; and each one tells a story where words have the power of poetry, transforming them into dreams, children, animals, desires, men and women, the sea. The deep sea that Lucio Dalla loved so much, to which he dedicated some of his most inspired notes. And that sea of thoughts and spaces still unfathomed, which we see on the horizon in the cover photo by Luigi Ghirri, leaves the question ‘Lucio dove vai?’ (‘Lucio, where are you going?’) still open, an echo that resounds in that sunset light" (from the notes by Costanza Alegiani, contained in the booklet of the album ‘Lucio dove vai?’)

“Lucio dove vai - Dalla dagli esordi a Roversi” is a musical project by singer and composer Costanza Alegiani, born in 2022 from a collaboration with Valerio Corzani and Rai Radio3, who created a special event in homage to Lucio Dalla, a concert by Alegiani (with her Trio Folkways and the participation of guitarist Francesco Diodati) and hosted by Corzani himself, aired live on March 1, 2022. the anniversary of Dalla's untimely death 10 years ago.  “Lucio Dove Vai?/Si fa notte nel cielo”  is a line from the last track of Dalla's 1970 album “Storie di casa mia” , which seems to prophetically anticipate the void left by his death in 2012, the thousand unclaimed legacies that his passing has left to the Italian music scene. “Lucio dove vai” is also one of the songs that is
part of this special project by the Trio Folkways, which revisits some songs from Lucio Dalla's early
career (“Anna Bellanna,” “La casa in riva al mare” and, of course, the aforementioned “Lucio dove vai”) and tackles the vast chapter of record production linked to the collaboration with the poet Roberto Roversi (including “La canzone di Orlando,” “Il Coyote,” and “Anidride Solforosa”), which definitively marked Dalla's poetics and style. This live project gave rise to an album of the same name, “Lucio dove vai?”, produced by the
Fondazione Musica per Roma and Parco della Musica Records, March 2023, which captures the Trio's successful encounter with Dalla's music, poetry, and voice, with the collaboration of Antonello Salis and Francesco Diodati, guests on the album. The album also boasts an artistic contribution of immense value, the cover photo by the great Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri, a close friend of Lucio Dalla.
