Album Description

Album Notes “You are already what you want to become” (Thich Nhat Hanh) I believe everybody comes to this life with a specific purpose. Everything you need to fulfill that purpose and to live according to your true nature is already available to you in the form of talents. Only when you follow your path, life unfolds in such way that you can develop you true potential and make the very best use of your talents for yourself and the benefit of others. I always wanted to be a jazz musician. I have spent countless days and nights imagining how would it feel to play jazz everyday in big stages with great musicians, dreaming of how wonderful it would be to play in New York, to have an audience listening to your music… It took great determination and courage to start “The Journey” towards my dream. A long journey walked by Little Steps, through which I’ve learnt that there are in fact no limitations to what you can potentially achieve but the ones you put to yourself and your own imagination. "Little Steps" is a compilation of 8 original compositions exploring different ways of using the Blues over modern, more complex jazz harmonies and rhythms. Behind every song there is a story, a little adventure along the journey, which I tried to reflect by using different elements in the music. For example, in the song “Little Steps” I use chromatism and small intervals as elements to express the small steps you take to achieve a bigger dream. There is chromatism in the melody as well as in the harmonic motion. “Mind the Gap” is a song to remind you to be careful with the “gaps in life”, those unexpected situations that always happen when you are too relaxed… So, the song has some unexpected stops, broken rhythms and different styles within. To express the idea of journey and motion in the album the music is pretty dynamic, expressive and very rhythmical. You can find different kinds of rhythms: jazz, latin, brazilan… You find catchy melodies that blend really good with more complex harmonies, but above all you find “The Blues”. The Blues has this meaning of going through the struggle with a smile in your face. This album wants to show the journey in a very optimistic way, so the blues is a key element in the whole album. By sharing my story I hope I to inspire you to find the dreamer inside yourself. “Little Steps” is an invitation to taste and enjoy every little step of your own personal journey.
