Album Description
Director’s Notes Let The Good Times Roll, UNLV School Of Music, Division of Jazz and Commerical Music's 2024 CD release represents the accomplishments and efforts of our students, faculty, and guest artists throughout the 2023-2024 school year. UNLV J&CM celebrates the milestone achievement of garnering 50 Downbeat Student Music Awards (since 2010) including the prestigious Large Jazz Ensemble (Graduate College) Category, the Undergraduate Composition Categories (Ricardo Arana & Kirby Gabraith), the Outstanding Soloist Category (Tristan Selzler & Toscha Comeaux) and the Engineered Studio Recording Category (Yoni Kessler). UNLV's Jazz Ensemble I also gave a command performance at the 2024 Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Our previous CD, Dreamlike, recieved 2024 Grammy Consideration, and was featured on radio stations nationally. Let The Good Times Roll features many notable guest artists, including returning performers Laura Taylor, Curt Miller and Kenny Rampton, as well as new guests artists such as Clint Holmes and Naomi Mauro (both of whom have performed at UNLV's annual Joe Williams Scholarship Concert). UNLV Faculty members also make appearances, including Adam Schroeder and Dr.... Isrea Butler. UNLV J&CM had the exciting opportunity to work with the Grammy-Award-Winning Producer Gregg Field who assisted in the production of the title track and Too Close For Comfort. This CD includes many student compositions and arrangements. UNLV J&CM prides itself as a top school for jazz composition, and has produced many skilled composers such as Ricardo Arana, Jorge Machain, Carlos Mata, and Julian Tanaka. UNLV's current student composers/arrangers, such as Kirby Galbraith, Renzon Maballo, Jaren Glick, Tristan Selzler, Mateo H.D. Mendoza, and Surafael Tamre have contributed significant works to this project. We are proud of the creativity and exceptional performances on this record, and we hope you enjoy Let The Good Times Roll.
