Album Description

This trio compilation, born from three years of musical activity in New York since the previous release, features many bright and lively numbers in contrast to the last album. Of the 10 tracks, 8 are original compositions. Leading with 'View from the Boundary Line,' painted as an abstract landscape, the album includes the uniquely harmonized jazz waltz 'Reflection,' the bossa nova-infused rhythm of 'Clockwork,' the lively jazz blues melody of 'Zig-Zag,' the composition featuring various harmony techniques 'Escher’s Staircase,' the straightforward jazz ballad 'Slowly and Broadly,' the free-form number 'What do you mean by that?' utilizing various pitch differences, and the refreshing expression of spring in 'Spring Waltz.' Notably, 'Escher’s Staircase' was awarded the Grand Prize (Session I) and later the Lennon Award—the top annual honor in the Jazz category—at the 2024 John Lennon Songwriting Contest, receiving recognition both from the judging panel and through an international online vote. In addition to these tracks, the album includes a contemporary medium swing arrangement of the jazz standard 'Body and Soul,' infused with complex harmonies and rhythms, as well as a piano trio arrangement of the gospel classic 'You Are the Living Word.'
