Album Description

"Journey Without Maps" was the first and only album recorded by The Northwest Jazz Sextet (NWJS). Between 1972-1979, the NWJS performed regionally at over 200 pubic schools and colleges under grants from the Washington State Cultural Enrichment Program and the Western States Arts Commission. The sextet also appeared at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC as part of the Center's 1979 Imagination Celebration. In addition, he NWJS also appeared in concert at DePaul University in Chicago, Vanier Park Planetarioum in Vancouver, BC (to name a few), and were guest artists with the Great Falls Symphony that same year. Pianist Stan Keen, the band's manager and pianist, took the sextet into Woodinville's (WA) Bear Creek Studios in November of 1979 and recorded this album. Out of print for many years, every so often a rare copy of "Journey Without Maps" shows up for sale on ebay or Discogs.
