Album Description

Ukrainian trumpeter Dima Bondarev has established himself as a key voice on the European jazz scene. A sought-after sideman in Berlin, he has played across a wide range of styles, always bringing his distinctive approach to the music. “Get a Second Wind”, his long-awaited second album as a leader, marks a new chapter in his artistry. Written back in his student years, the album’s composition presents a quartet setting—trumpet, alto sax, bass, and drums—allowing for melodic freedom and deep interplay. Bondarev is joined by an all-star Berlin lineup: Wanja Slavin, one of the leading saxophonists on the scene for two decades; Igor Spallati, known for his rock-solid sideman work; and Jim Black, an internationally renowned drummer whose innovative playing has shaped modern jazz since the ’90s. Recorded by: Sebastian Ohmert at Blackbird Studios Berlin Edited by: Dani Valentino at Dnipro & Kruchi Productions Mixed and Mastered by: Mike Marciano
