Album Description
https://sefaloco.bandcamp.com/album/futurist-song-forms-vol-2 This was the first meeting of SeFa LoCo (Sexton, Facey, Lowe, Coulter) and Hugh Ragin. Although, Ragin had previously worked and recorded with Coulter’s RACCA trio (see The Great Expanse on Right Brain Records and Four Phase on Kreating SounD) and brought a fresh, contrasting voice to that context; the same is true here. Ragin adds a second melodic voice to SeFa LoCo where Sexton’s melodicism is often primary while the others create enveloping rhythmic and textural soundscapes, broadly speaking. The diverse perspectives, experiences, techniques, and creative direction of the musicians here converge on a want for exploration, new forms, new sounds, and creative cooperation in those pursuits. Their melding of acoustic and electronic sounds is fluid, often confounding the listener. Their playing complements, contrasts, and pushes forward in constant new directions, generating complex, unexpected sound worlds. SeFa LoCo comes from the first two letters of each player’s last name with sefa meaning “delight” in Turkish and loco meaning “mad” in Spanish.
