Album Description
A Guitar-Centred Musical Journey:
Fretboard Philosophy brings together a diverse collection of compositions. The album opens with the driving instrumental “The Take Down” and moves through blues-inflected passages, atmospheric compositions, rock and pop explorations, free-jazz influences, and acoustic reflections. Among the album’s tracks are “Arthritic Blues,” “Surfing at Midnight,” “Novel Mysteries,” “RDPC 1973,” “Midnight Lines,” and “Out of the Stream.” The album also features the reflective “Reflections on Ralph,” “Friday in July,” and “Prayers for Jardine,” alongside “Harmolodic Blood,” a composition inspired by the possibilities of improvisational guitar. The album concludes with “Endearment” and “Forgiveness,” adding a contemplative dimension to a record that continually shifts between intensity, experimentation, melody, and atmosphere. Rather than following a single musical formula, Fretboard Philosophy embraces the idea that the guitar can occupy many different worlds. The contrasting styles and moods offer a snapshot of Lahdekorpi’s continuing creative exploration and his enduring fascination with the possibilities of the instrument.
