Personnel

Album Description

They have been experimenting alternative methods of music notation in Einfalt sextet, comping tastefully singer-songwriter Patrizia Laquidara on distinguished stages, playing jazz standards in clubs and bars, in trio, quartet, large ensembles. You can find them tutoring a young Gabriele Mitelli's debut album on Parco della Musica Records as well as supporting an experienced and demanding saxophonist as Andrea Ayassot in his own visionary labyrinth. At the same time they've been always keeping a strong inclination towards the "tabula rasa" approach, here in full expression. This common love led them to the recording studio. In this series of recordings, the first volume of which is now seeing the light after having aged in "digital barique" since 2015, all three instruments perform with remarkable freedom, individuality, and creativity. Improvisations flow in a very intimate interaction, following a stream of motivic developments and eloquent phrase repetitions, extended dramatic ostinatos, contrasted tempo blocs, and a striking combination of progressive modality and song-like atonality. Everything springs in spontaneous structures, where forms are at the same time simple but emotionally layered. No edits have been done, everything is as honest as a drum stick falling among the microphones stands.
