Album Description
Vanity Project introduces Diva Miro, the new musical alter ego of acclaimed Canadian pianist and composer Steve Amirault. After taking up the U-Bass, Amirault discovered a fresh approach to composition, building pieces from bass lines, open strings and deceptively simple grooves before developing their melodies and harmonies.
The album features nine original compositions performed by Amirault on U-Bass, Erik Hove on alto saxophone, Chet Doxas on tenor saxophone and Richard Irwin on drums. Blending contemporary jazz, memorable melodies and groove-driven interplay, Vanity Project captures the excitement of an established musician reinventing himself through an unfamiliar instrument and a new role within the ensemble.
