Album Description

Agua is the latest release by Spanish guitarist, composer, and producer Álvaro del Valle, an album that situates itself within the current landscape of contemporary jazz while integrating elements of electronic music and songwriting. The project reflects del Valle’s interest in expanding the vocabulary of jazz through interaction between acoustic performance and technology. Agua combines the dynamic energy of live improvisation with sound design and textural exploration, creating a space where composition and real-time creation coexist naturally. The recording features an international ensemble formed by Naíma Acuña (drums), Íñigo Ruiz de Gordejuela (piano), and Zoe Iacono (voice), Roman Filiu (Saxophone) and Reinier Elizarde (Bass) whose contributions help shape the album’s fluid and exploratory character. "Álvaro del Valle, one of the great young artists and composers in the Avant-garde of Spain" In & Out Jazz "In pieces such as Silence and Silence, Pt. 2, silence is not treated as emptiness but as a compositional material. The minimal drum attacks and the piano’s open voicings create a sustained tension that recalls the aesthetic of the ECM label, while the use of electronics adds a layer of modernity that renews and updates that legacy."
