With this album, Gwen and Harry aim to shine a light on both Strayhorn’s well-known works and some of his lesser-known gems, such as “Strange Feeling” and “Serenata.” The challenge of translating Strayhorn’s orchestral arrangements into an intimate format for voice and bass has led them to approach the music in a personal, muted and unvarnished fashion, choosing to perform live, testing the waters, before deciding to record.
