Rocco John Iacovone: Peace and Love: A Tribute to Will Connell

Read "Peace and Love: A Tribute to Will Connell" reviewed by Troy Dostert

Rocco John Iacovone has been an under-sung presence in the New York avant-garde scene for some time. Despite several recordings to his name, he's yet to get much big-time recognition. But with this live recording by his octet, the Improvisational Composers Ensemble, that could change. The December 2014 performance at John Zorn's club, the Stone had ...

Loss Of A Quiet Giant: Will Connell 1938-2014

By John Pietaro I was heartily saddened by the sudden unexpected phone call: downtown’s unsung hero of Free Jazz, Will Connell, Jr., was hospitalized and non-responsive. When that happens, opinions and emotions abound. Reactions vary from disgust to excitement and enthusiasm, and it is ...

Steve Swell: Sound Miracles

L'etichetta indipendente CIMP (Creative Improvised Music Projects), particolarmente coerente e combattiva nel documentare l'improvvisazione free di ieri e di oggi, americana ed europea, si regge su un'impresa a conduzione famigliare: il produttore Robert D. All About Jazz & Jazz Near You were built to promote jazz music: both recorded and live events. We rely primarily on venues, festivals and musicians to promote their events through our platform. With club closures, shelter in place and an uncertain future, we've pivoted our platform to collect, promote and broadcast livestream concerts to support our jazz musician friends. This is a significant but neccesary effort that will help musicians now, and in the future. You can help offset the cost of this essential undertaking by making a donation today. In return, we'll deliver an ad-free experience (which includes hiding the bottom right video ad). Thank you.
