Mark J Miller

Mark grew up in Racine, Wisconsin and attended nearby Carthage College. In 1992 he moved toMinneapolis to study at the University of Minnesota with Tom Ashworth and Ron McCurdy. An ever-present sound on the Twin Cities music scene in the 1990s, he played with and composed for MotionPoets, Slide Huxtable, Happy Apple, and Jeanay Say Qua. Mark also performed with the Latin SoundsOrchestra, Salsa Del Soul, and the Intergalactic Contemporary Ensemble.
Mark was a founding member of the jazz sextet Motion Poets, in which he and the other members eachcomposed an eclectic repertoire of hundreds of pieces during their eight-year tenure (1993-2000).They recorded three albums: “Truth And Consequence”, “Standard Of Living”, and “Lose Your Mind AndCome To Your Senses”. Motion Poets also traveled extensively, performing in 37 states and werefeatured at many jazz festivals, including: San Jose Jazz Festival, Iowa City Jazz Festival, Discover JazzFestival, and the BYU Jazz Festival.

Gary Tole

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Gary Tole began playing the trombone at the age of twelve. By the age of sixteen, he was working with the all the shows that came into the Pittsburgh area. After attending Duquesne University School of Music, Gary was offered the first trombone position with the world renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra. After a four year world tour with the Miller organization, he toured with Harry James, Tex Beneke, Les Brown and Jimmy Dorsey. In 1978, Gary relocated and made his permanent residence in Southern California. Gardner also performs often with his brother, trumpeter Derrick Gardner and his ensemble, The Jazz Prophets. Being born into a musical family in which both his father, Burgess Gardner, a trumpeter who has played with many groups including Ray Charles, Count Basie, and Horace Silver, and his mother, a pianist and choir director, are both music educators, Gardner was surrounded by music at an early age

Michael Dease

Michael Dease is one of the world's eminent trombonists, lending his versatile sound and signature improvisations to over 200 recordings and groups as diverse as Grammy winning artists David Sanborn, Christian McBride, Michel Camilo, and Alicia Keys. Born in Augusta, GA, he played the saxophone and trumpet before choosing the trombone at age 17. In 2001, Dease moved to New York City to become part of the historic first class of jazz students at The Juilliard School, earning both Bachelors and Masters degrees, and quickly established a reputation as a brilliant soloist, sideperson, and bandleader.

Josh Roseman

Trombonist/composer Josh Roseman was born and raised in the Boston metropolitan area. He has been living in New York City since 1990, where he has become a prominent new voice in the improvising musicians' community. In the mid-1980's the teenaged Roseman began playing throughout the Boston-area club circuit with several popular jazz, soul and reggae bands, doubling on trombone and bass. He attended Berklee while still in high school and later enrolled at the New England Conservatory of Music on scholarship, under the guidance of George Garzone, John Swallow and trombonist Gary Valente. Trombonist William Carn has emerged as one of Canada’s leading contemporary jazz composers and performers. He has performed and recorded with jazz artists such as Rob McConnell, Randy Brecker, David Binney, Kenny Wheeler, Barry Harris, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Kevin Mahogany, Mike Murley, Hilario Duran, Andrew Downing, Bernie Senensky, Don Thompson, and Phil Dwyer. His debut release, Other Stories, was nominated for a 2007 Juno Award as Traditional Jazz Album of the Year. He has also been nominated for Trombonist of the Year at the National Jazz Awards from 2004 to 2007. As a bandleader, William currently leads the William Carn Quintet, featuring some of Canada’s finest musicians
