Kenny Brooks

Kenny Brooks was inspired to play reed instruments from the age of 9. After graduating
from El Cerrito H.S. in 1984 at age 17 he went directly to the New England Conservatory where he
studied under renowned saxophonist George Garzone. His work in the Bay Area in the 90’s includ-
ed Eddie Marshall’s band, Charlie Hunter and his own group Alphabet Soup with pianist Dred Scott
and drummer Jay Lane.
The year 2000 was Brooks’ first year playing with Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead in his band
RatDog, a gig that would last a decade and a musical association that endures to this day. In 2007

Jeff Robinson
Musician, playwright, and poet Jeff Robinson is based in the Boston area. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he also studies theatre at the Moscow Art Theatre Company. Robinson combines his experience with music, theatre, and poetry in the one-person play Live Bird, which focuses on the life of Charlie Parker. Every Sunday night, the Jeff Robinson Trio accompanies poets at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The trio provides collective jazz improvisation, based on the rhythmic cadence of each poet, creating music that is truly unique to each performance. Robinson also frequently performs with the Duppy Conquerors, a Bob Marley Tribute band, at The Precinct in Somerville, MA.

Willie Matheis
Born:
Raised in Bellingham, Washington, Willie first studied the saxophone at age 11 with multi-reed instrumentalist Ray Downey. In 1996, he attended Western Washington University studying jazz improvisation, arranging, and playing regularly with Chuck Israels (former bassist with the Bill Evens Trio and musical director of the National Jazz Ensemble, now known as the Lincoln Center Orchestra), and taking private lessons with B.C. saxophonist Mike Allen. Receiving a Laurels Scholarship in 1999, Willie went on to study at Portland State University. There he studied jazz improvisation and arranging with pianist Darrell Grant and private lessons with saxophonists Rob Scheps, John Gross, and Scott Hall. Having painstakingly developed himself as a stylistically versatile musician and an individualistic improviser, Willie has enjoyed an exciting career as one of the Northwest‘s premier saxophonists

Scott D Marshall
Toronto - based saxophonist, composer, producer, band leader, and educator Scott Marshall is highly sought after for his skills within the jazz community, and professional jobbing scenes of his city. A skilled composer and arranger, Scott’s compositions have been featured on five of his own releases: Dream Logic Project (2018) Nihahi Ridge (2014), Vignettes (2010), Nine Moments of Time (2007), and Face it (2002), as well as two releases by the group Out of Order: What Now (2000), and Out of Order (1997). Scott’s compositions have also been featured in the feature length movie The Anniversary by Canadian film maker Valarie Buhagiar, and the short film The Loss by Consistent C Films

Radek Nowicki Quartet

Radek Nowicki is tenor and soprano saxophonists. He graduated with honours from the Fryderyk Chopin State School of Music in Warsaw and the Jazz Institute of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice. He is a member of Zbigniew Namyslowski’s Big Band. He received First Prize at the Jazz Standards Festival in Siedlce in 2000 with the Szymon Makohin Quintet. In 2004 he won Third Prize in the Jazz Struggle International Competition in Szczecin from jury leaded by Billy Harper, where he also received an honorary mention for most interesting debut. With the trio Kaczmarczyk/Dobrowolski/Traczyk he was awarded First Prize in the Kultursalon Horbigger in Vienna

He is an Associate Professor at the acclaimed Berklee College of Music in Boston where he has taught for over 15 years. Smith is in demand as a clinician, guest soloist and private teacher. He has performed throughout the United States, Japan, Germany,Mexico, Canada and England. In 1992, he founded Big and Phat Jazz Productions to serve as the production company for his Jazz in the Sanctuary Concert Series, as well as his ensembles and recording projects. Jazz in the Sanctuary Concert Series Smith is the founder/artistic director of the Jazz in the Sanctuary Concert Series in Brookline, MA which has produced over 85 concerts in the last 11 years

Jeff Morrison Quartet

Jeff was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado and adopted by a military family, his father a Navy officer. At eight months of age, they moved to Phoenix, AZ where he was raised and lived until his late 20's. Jeff was drawn to music as early as he can remember, and tried to take a vinyl LP record with him on his first day of school. Jeff began playing the alto saxophone at the age of 11, and spent 3 years in the Phoenix Boys Choir where he learned the discipline of long rehearsals and a heavy schedule of concerts throughout the city and state, performing classical pieces as well as folk and popular music
