Jonathan Moritz

Tenor and soprano saxophonist Jonathan Moritz was born in Iran and raised in California where he received his B.A. in music performance from California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) in 2000. He began his studies at the Brussels Royal Conservatory of music in Belgium in 1995 and studied there 3 years. He has released several recordings under his name including the Jonathan Moritz Trio CD, Xanadu, released in 2000 under J.A.S. records with bassist Lindsey Horner and drummer Lieven Venken. Two recordings have been made with gutarist/composer Dan Marcus in a group called the Marcus/Moritz Quartet

Following the family tradition, I graduated from Moscow University with a master’s degree in Physics and was offered a prestigious and exciting job that other aspiring physicists would kill for. Chris Holtslag started playing music when he was 12 years old. He started out on the trumpet, later on he switched to piano. Through his piano teacher he was introduced in the world of jazz, and hasnt let go since. After playing jazz piano for four years he realized his true passion lay in the saxophone (tenor). He is currently intensively playing the saxophone and has already played in a large amount of formations varying from big bands to octets and trio ensembles.

Wowing audiences on saxophone, clarinet, and flute, Seth has made a name for himself in the Washington/Baltimore region, and beyond. He is the featured performer with The Kleztet, Bay Jazz& Project, Music Pilgrim TrioThe Natty Beaux, and more. Winner of 28 Washington Area Music Awards (Wammies), including "Best World Music Instrumentalist" (2003-11) and "Best Jazz Instrumentalist" (2005, 2007-8, 2011-14). His most recent recording, "Clown With A Stick," was released in May 2023 on the Azalea City Recordings record label. He's won numerous prizes in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC) including the Grand Prize in 2016 and a Gold Prize in 2022.

Paul Kendall started on clarinet in the 4th grade in New York public school. When the 9th grade band director asked who would play baritone sax, he volunteered. Paul entered college as a baritone saxophonist, but added flute, tenor, and alto sax there. Shortly after college, he was a member of the big bands of Ken McIntyre and Charli Persip on baritone. He began leading jazz groups in venues including Birdland, The Angry Squire, and Cleopatra's Needle in Manhattan, on tenor saxophone. In 2004, Paul relocated to Eastern PA, where he is a member of The Skip Wilkins Quintet, The Tony Gairo/Gary Rissmiller Big Band, and Mark Hamza's Great Swamp Blues Band

Grammy-nominated artist Ted Nash enjoys an extraordinary career as a performer, conductor, composer, arranger, and educator. Born in Los Angeles, multi-instrumentalist Nash's interest in music started at an early age. He was exposed to music and encouraged by his father, trombonist Dick Nash, and uncle, reedman Ted Nash - both well-known studio and jazz musicians. Nash blossomed early, a “young lion” before the term became marketing vernacular. During his first three years in New York Nash became a regular member of a variety of ensembles. He worked with the Gerry Mulligan Big Band, the National Jazz Ensemble and the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra. One of Nash's most important associations is with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, for whom he composed Portrait in Seven Shades, a suite dedicated to seven different iconic painters
