Luis Verde

From an early age, Luis Verde (from Cáceres, born 1983) has always had a profound connection with music. Initially classically trained at the Basque Superior Conservatory of Music, MUSIKENE, he went on to specialise and graduate in ‘Jazz Saxophone’. In 2008, he won first prize with the Citric Trio Group at INJUVE. Following this, he was awarded ‘Best Soloist’ on three occasions, twice in 2009 at the 3rd International Competition of Jazz Soloists in Alcañiz and at the 5th Barcelona Jazz Competition and then again in 2014 at the 6th Extremadura Sonora Music Awards. The release of his debut album ‘World of Distractions’ in 2012 marked the beginning of his career as a soloist

Tom Weeks is a composer, improviser, and saxophonist from Oakland, CA. He has received a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA, and a Master's degree in Composition from Mills College, Oakland, CA. He has studied with Roscoe Mitchell, Fred Frith, Zeena Parkins, Pauline Oliveros, Steve Adams, Richard Evans, and Phil Wilson, among others. His music is influenced by various African-American musical traditions, the historical avant-garde, and the heavy metal and hardcore traditions; utilizing improvisation, extended techniques, and traditional and experimental notational practices

Vernau Mier

Vernau was born in Girona in 1994 and is now based in Basel, Switzerland. He began to study classical guitar and violin, starting saxophone later at the age of 11. Three years later he became acquainted with Dani Alonso, with whom he discovered jazz and started the JBBG (Youth Big Band of Girona), which has since become a cornerstone of the Girona jazz scene. At the age of 18, he moves to Barcelona to pursue a degree in jazz performance at the ESMUC and starts his first project, the Vernau Mier Quintet. With this quintet, he records his debut album Nebuloses d'Azimut live at the Sunset Jazz Club, featuring original compositions

Mark Hauser

Mark Hauser embarked on his musical career at the age of 15 as a saxophonist. After two years at the St. Gallen jazz school, he studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated in 1993 with a major in performance. He spent further years studying with Kenny Garrett, Joe Viola, Hal Crook, George Garzone and Jerry Bergonzi. Furnished with a scholarship, he continued training at New York's Manhattan School of Music, where he refined his repertoire and became a professional musician. In 2011 he once again spent time studying abroad, in Brazilian Salvador da Bahia. His dealings with South American idioms and jazz improvisations influence his earliest compositions. As a band leader, Hauser not only realised his own projects, he was also the “side man” in a variety of formations and ensembles

www.movanderdoes.com Mo van der Does, Amsterdam based Dutch jazz saxophonist When Mo van der Does (1997) was 10 years old, he discovered that the violin wasn’t really his instrument and therefore switched to playing the alto saxophone. It turned out to be a good decision. People like Charlie Parker and Sonny Rollins inspired him through the records of his father and made him want to play jazz music. For four years, starting from the age of 14, he took part in the young talent program from the Conservatory of Amsterdam, called the Junior Jazz College. Giuliano Pereira

Biography - GIULIANO PEREIRA Like many contemporary improvising musicians, saxophonist Giuliano Pereira is the archetypal global citizen. He left his native Brazil in the late 90s, resided in New York and Madrid before finally settling in London in 2009. He has also performed in Canada, Portugal, Angola, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bulgaria, Bahrain and Sweden. In Brazil, he trained at the Carlos de Campos de Tatui Conservatoire where his tutors included Claudio Leal [harmony] and David Richards [Improvisation]. In addition to this formal musical education, Pereira began to perform and record studio sessions, exploring and developing his own style
