João Santos

Born: January 17, 1989

João Santos was born in oport in 1989. He began his musical studies at age five in EDMMM , was part eight years of this children’s choir at age twelve he began to be trained in classical guitar. For nine years participated in several traditional music projects.with twenty-one years entered the school jazz course, where he studied with Professor. This twenty-third he entered the ESMAE in jazz singing .

Mariana Vergueiro

Mariana Vergueiro is a young jazz singer based in Oporto, Portugal. After finishing her degree in jazz in ESMAE - Porto, she gathers her band and starts developing her own repertoire. All compositions and lyrics are written by Mariana and the recording of her debut album is taking place within a month, in November 2014.

Nuno Trocado

Nuno Trocado is a composer and guitarist crossing various contemporary musical constellations. He is particularly interested in the combination between the spontaneity of improvisation and the rigor of algorithmic composition. His work also focus on the multiple meanings of noise, and frequently entails collaborations with other musicians and with artists of different disciplines. He holds a degree in jazz guitar and is active in several improviser groups, both as a leader and as a sideman. He also obtained a master's degree in composition and music theory from ESMAE (Porto, Portugal). In the context of a residence in the 2017 edition of the Guimarães Jazz festival, he created Cotovelo, a disciplinary crossing between music and theater, edited by the Carimbo Porta-Jazz label and awarded with a grant by the GDA Foundation

Pãodemónio

Combining acoustic power with electronic magic, tricky grooves with intoxicating atmospheres, technical mastery and spontaneity, Pãodemónio is a contemporary quartet based on Porto, Portugal. Pãodemónio's music, while rooted in jazz, avant-garde, hip- hop, metal, funk, rock, free improvisation and everything in- between, defies easy classification. With a line-up of saxophone, electric guitar, keyboards and drums, the quartet explores intense sonic landscapes, energetic grooves and headbanging guitar riffing, along with the creative exploration and interaction of a tight jazz unit.

Pedro Neves is a prolific Portuguese jazz pianist and composer, well-known for his acclaimed albums, as a leader of his piano trio or for his contribution to the work of many fellow musicians.

Nuno Catarino (Público journal and aformadojazz.pt), refers to Pedro Neves’s music as “some of the most beautiful and delicate jazz music made in Portugal”, reinforcing his natural predisposition to write songs with well-defined structures. With no boundaries whereas to genre or style, his compositions incorporate different grooves and soundscapes from his vast musical taste.

Paulo Perfeito

Born: July 12, 1974

Paulo Perfeito , trombonist , composer and educator was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974 . His musical studies began in a local marching band, and proceeded in the Conservatorio de Musica in Porto and later in the Escola de Jazz do Porto. After attending the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop in 1996 , Paulo was encouraged to continue his studies in Jazz at the Berklee College of Music where in 2001 he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Music . In 2007 Paulo obtained the degree of Master of Music at the New England Conservatory and he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the prestigious Eastman School of Music.
