Pedro Melo Alves

Pedro Melo Alves was born 1991 in Porto/ Portugal and has consistently been working as a drummer and composer in innovative jazz bands (Omniae Ensemble, In Igma, The Rite of Trio), contemporary electroacoustic projects (his solo O or his trio symph), improvised music (with Luís Vicente, Yedo Gibson, Mark Alban Lotz), instrumental rock (Catacombe), and soundtracks for Theatre and Dance (with Schaubühne's Peter Kleinert or Carlota Lagido). With studies in Jazz and Contemporary Composition he has been recognized with composition, solo drums and band awards and is now establishing himself as one of the new european creative voices, participating in Jazzahead, 12 Points and European Jazz Conference.


Stereogram marks the debut of pLoo, an eclectic album with a unique sound. A pinch of Jazz to season a contemporary amalgam of improvisation on a world music rhythm. Wanted different ways to create a pulse in music, make up and travel different paths, a holding of melody, harmony, rhythm, form, timbre and texture. Michael Lauren

Born in New York on January 16, 1950, Michael Lauren has been drumming since the age of eight. His artistry crosses the boundaries of jazz, blues, funk, rock, and world music. Michael attended The Johns Hopkins University B.A., The Peabody Conservatory of Music, and Berklee College of Music. He is a founding member of the world renowned Drummers Collective, NYC, where he taught for over twenty-five years. Michael was the Professor of Drum Set Studies (Ret.) and was the Jazz Department Chairman (2005-2010, 2015-2017) at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo (ESMAE) in Porto, Portugal


João Santos

João Santos was born in oport in 1989. He began his musical studies at age five in EDMMM , was part eight years of this children’s choir at age twelve he began to be trained in classical guitar. For nine years participated in several traditional music projects.with twenty-one years entered the school jazz course, where he studied with Professor. This twenty-third he entered the ESMAE in jazz singing .


Mariana Vergueiro

Mariana Vergueiro is a young jazz singer based in Oporto, Portugal. After finishing her degree in jazz in ESMAE - Porto, she gathers her band and starts developing her own repertoire. All compositions and lyrics are written by Mariana and the recording of her debut album is taking place within a month, in November 2014.

Nuno Trocado

Nuno Trocado is a composer and guitarist crossing various contemporary musical constellations. He is particularly interested in the combination between the spontaneity of improvisation and the rigor of algorithmic composition. His work also focus on the multiple meanings of noise, and frequently entails collaborations with other musicians and with artists of different disciplines. He holds a degree in jazz guitar and is active in several improviser groups, both as a leader and as a sideman. He also obtained a master's degree in composition and music theory from ESMAE (Porto, Portugal). In the context of a residence in the 2017 edition of the Guimarães Jazz festival, he created Cotovelo, a disciplinary crossing between music and theater, edited by the Carimbo Porta-Jazz label and awarded with a grant by the GDA Foundation

Combining acoustic power with electronic magic, tricky grooves with intoxicating atmospheres, technical mastery and spontaneity, Pãodemónio is a contemporary quartet based on Porto, Portugal. Pãodemónio's music, while rooted in jazz, avant-garde, hip- hop, metal, funk, rock, free improvisation and everything in- between, defies easy classification. With a line-up of saxophone, electric guitar, keyboards and drums, the quartet explores intense sonic landscapes, energetic grooves and headbanging guitar riffing, along with the creative exploration and interaction of a tight jazz unit.


Pedro Neves

He began his studies in music and classical piano at age 7- In 2007 ends his degree in Jazz Piano at ESMAE . In the same year went to Barcelona to study at L'Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz - Conservatorio Liceu. Currently working with Pedro Neves Trio ,Lucia Martinez Quartet , Creative Miles, Bruno Macedo Quartet , Sonia Pinto. Mariana Vergueiro and SKETCH. In 2013 recorded “AUSENTE”, his first album as leader with Miguel Angelo and Leandro Leonet under the “Carimbo PORTA – JAZZ”. In 2016 records “05.21”, his second album as a leader and composer with his trio. Works regularly as a studio musician and as a guest musician in various musical projects


Paulo Perfeito

Paulo Perfeito , trombonist , composer and educator was born in Porto, Portugal in 1974 . His musical studies began in a local marching band, and proceeded in the Conservatorio de Musica in Porto and later in the Escola de Jazz do Porto. After attending the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop in 1996 , Paulo was encouraged to continue his studies in Jazz at the Berklee College of Music where in 2001 he obtained the degree of Bachelor of Music . In 2007 Paulo obtained the degree of Master of Music at the New England Conservatory and he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts at the prestigious Eastman School of Music.
