Tatiana Koleva

Born in Bulgaria, Tatiana Koleva lives and works at present in the Netherlands. Internationally renown as virtuoso solo and ensemble performer, she is actively involved in the promotion of contemporary music and art forms all over the world. She has established herself as a leading percussionist specializing in marimba. Her performances leave the audience spellbound with intriguing rhythms and surprising musical developments. In addition to her intensive concert activities Mrs. Koleva leads regularly master classes for marimba/percussion and chamber music as well as composer workshops. She has played concerts and given clinics throughout Europe, the USA, Japan, Jordan, Mexico and Canada. Tatiana Koleva has commissioned a number of compositions specially written for her and her projects and ensembles. Most of the pieces use her new performing technique of "marimba extended" developed during the intense collaboration with the composers, using other percussion instruments, sound tracks and her voice. Based on that conception Tatiana released her first solo CD "Knock on Wood" released in 2004 on the NovaLinia records, and followed up by the premiere of her new solo multimedia program "Rituals & Confessions" in March 2006.

Gordon Hazlewood

Born:
Gordon was born in Guyana, where the culture and influences were more Caribbean than South American despite its geographical location. This explains the proliferation in Guyana of the Trinidadian invented and styled steel band or steel drum orchestra. As a young boy he saw the way the steel band was made and borrowed from the tuning process of the large oil drums. He was able to create his first instrument at the age of seven. Through the years he has continued to refine his approach to tuning and mounting the cans to improve tonality and create instruments of differing ranges. Langlois
Born:
David Langlois was born in Paris, France, where he took up the drum set at age fifteen. A year later, he began his training with Johnny Stadler, professional jazz drummer, well known for his appearances on Swiss television, radios and for his outstanding live performances throughout Europe. Mr. Langlois, then, performed in several jazz bands in France and Switzerland. At 21 years old, he was hired as a full time musician by Gilles Remy, an European renowned, jazz clarinetist and saxophonist, to play the washboard and the drum set in the “Gilles Remy Orchestra”, which toured internationally, playing at the highly esteemed, Montreux Jazz Festival, and numerous other festivals all over Europe. It was at this time, that David invented his signature washboard instrument, and polished his unique washboard technique, which immediately attracted several avenues of professional work. In 1994: David founded his own four pieces band, “The Sun Side Jazz Band”, inspired by New Orleans jazz, which performed at concerts and festivals throughout France and Switzerland. Ryu Bok-sung was a teenager fiddling with his radio dial in rural South Korea when he chanced upon a strange new music he couldn't name, but it struck an immediate emotional chord. Michael Spiro

Michael Spiro is a world-renowned percussionist, recording artist, and educator, known specifically for his work in the Latin music field. Spiro's formal education includes a bachelor's degree with honors in Latin American Studies from the University of California, and three and a half years of graduate work in ethnomusicology at the University of Washington. His practical education consists of a seven- year apprenticeship with Francisco Aguabella (a relationship which continues today) and extensive study throughout Latin America. Efrain Toro

Efrain Toro is recognized as one of the finest and most complete all round percussionists in the world. Efrain began his musical career in his native Puerto Rico. Although he started on the drum kit, he very soon began to work with timbales, congas, and a wide variety of other instruments.
