About the Album

After turning heads with a series of records that showed his piano prowess, Mark Sherman is back to the instrument that made him a jazz hero: The vibraphone. This scintillating session finds him in the esteemed company of iconic bassist Ron Carter, pianist Donald Vega, drummer Carl Allen, and guest trumpeter Joe Magnarelli.

The title track is the kind of burning tune that has made hard bop an enduring art form. Allen begins with an unaccompanied introduction before Sherman, Magnarelli and Vega all deliver fiery solos. In this contest everyone is a winner, especially the listener.
