My introduction to music came by the way of my cousin Nathan Robinson aka "The Witch Doctor" when I was around 10 or 11 years old. I could sit and listen to him play all day. He gave me my first Conga Drum lessons. 1972 after graduating from San Jose State College I moved to Washington D.C. where my real instruction in Afro-Cuban drumming to place under the eyes of Baba Ingoma (The Father of the Drum) One of my class mates at the time was Barnet Williams who at the time was the Conga Drummer for Gil Scott-Heron and the Mid-Night Band. I spent 7 years under the eyes of Baba Ingoma playing in his group The African Cultural Dancers and Drummers

Tito de Gracia

Rafael Angel ‘Tito’ De Gracia was born on April 4, 1962 in Villa Palmeras, Santurce, Puerto Rico. He began playing the tumbadoras (congas) at 5 years of age and at 12 he was seriously playing the bongos and the timbales. He also studied the trumpet from 14 to 16 years old. Still in his adolescence, he joined the band Los Chiquitines del Son as a percussionist, directed by renowned guitarist Max Torres. From 1978 to 1980, he played the timbales with the salsa band Maldades, lead by pianist Archie Pereira. Later, from 1980 to 1982, he played congas with saxophonist Hector Lopez and his orchestra in San Juan, recreating the music of Machito, Tito Puente and Tito Rodriguez

Michel DeQuevedo

Michel DeQuevedo With 30+ years of performing and 20+ years of teaching experience Michel DeQuevedo arrived to Canada from Mexico City in 2005. He started playing percussion at the age of 8. After taking several early music education courses he attended Mexico City's Escuela Superior de Musica and Academia de Musica Fermatta (which was, at the time, affiliated with Berklee College of Music) He is a singer-songwriter and plays percussions, drum kit, guitar and bass. In Mexico, Michel was a recording and/or performing percussionist/drummer for several Mexican bands and artists including multi Grammy Award winner Julieta Venegas (BMG), multi Grammy Award winner Molotov (Universal), La Lupita (BMG), Pulpo (Sony Music) and more, and participated in many concerts and TV shows as a supporting musician for many artists and singers. He was part of the band “El Son y la Rumba” where he shared stage with the internationally acclaimed trumpeter Luis Gasca (Count Basie, Woody Herman, Mongo Santamaria, Herbie Hancock, Janis Joplin, Santana, etc) and recorded the soundtrack for the Academy Award winner Gabrielle Salvatore’s movie “Puerto Escondido” He has toured U.S.A., Canada, Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Chile, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. Since moving to Toronto in July 2005, Michel has played and/or recorded with some of the best artists in Canada, including Juno Award Winner Walk off the Earth, Juno Award Winner Richard Underhill, Juno Award Winner Quique Escamilla, The Eric St- Laurent Trio, Lady Son, The LMT Connection, Random Order and many more. He has played in Toronto’s best venues such as Massey Hall, Roy Thompson Hall, The Opera House, The Rex Hotel, Lula Lounge, The Reservoir Lounge, etc

Ravi Padmanabha

Ravi Padmanabha is a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, improviser/composer. His initial interest was in drum set which later led to a variety of world instruments. From an early age, Ravi was exposed to Indian Classical music. At age 18, he began his formal Tabla studies with Pandit Ananda Gopal, and later with Pandit Samar Saha of Calcutta. He then continued with Tabla Maestro Pandit Sharda Sahai. He worked for Trivini, an Indian Classical Music organization, which allowed him to meet and learn more about his rich musical heritage. While living in Buffalo Ravi spent many years performing in a wide variety of musical styles, including jazz, world, and experimental music

Baoku Moses

The Baoku Moses Image Afro-Beat Band is a unique, dynamic and energetic band. Founded in 2005 by front-man Baoku Moses. This Cincinnati based band is comprised of talented musicians who come from a world-wide influence of music and cultural backgrounds. Consisting of up to 10 members at a time, the band is able to calibrate their own unique sound by allowing all their influences to play out in their own distinctive style of music known as Afro-Beat. Baoku, a Yoruba native of Nigeria and a professional African drummer and performing artist, started his Afro-Beat career in 1997, shortly after the passing of Afro-Beat legend Fela Kuti. Inspired by his work and believing firmly in the power of music, Baoku and The Image Afro-Beat Band hopes to build an appreciation for cultural diversity and respect for life as they continue to contribute to making the world a more peaceful and respectful place in which to live. Arto Tuncboyaciyan

Arto Tunçboyaciyan, percussionist and singer, was born in Turkey in 1957 of Armenian descent of the Anatolian root.
One of his greatest influences of music and life was his brother Onno, musician himself, who encouraged Arto to develop his character not just as a brother but as a friend and as a musician.
At the age of 11, he began his career playing and recording traditional music with his brother establishing himself as a professional musician throughout Turkey and Europe.
Music is a fundamental element of his life, by which he tries to communicate his great values: love, respect and truth.
