Wong Foo Jeng

Born: March 5, 1997

Foo Jeng is a Malaysian pianist and composer. It is the craft of storytelling that informs his musical character, and thus his work often finds itself between the spaces of Classical and Black American music. He’s both a finalist of The American Prize in Composition and winner of the El Paso Original Music/New Ideas Competition. Moreover, his compositions have been performed by orchestras and chamber groups at events such as the St. Petersburg New Music Festival and São Paulo Contemporary Composers Festival. He’s also conducted chamber and choral music for the Berklee Composers Alumni Concert as well as performed piano pieces for their bi- annual Old South Church concerts. Foo Jeng holds a degree in Music Performance from Berklee College of Music and will be attending the Manhattan School of Music in Fall 2021

Alessandro Sgobbio

After earning Master Degrees at the Oslo Norwegian Music Academy and the Parma Music Conservatory, Alessandro Sgobbio has been voted one of the best new talents of the year at the “TopJazz” Italian Polls. He has released 15 albums as a leader / co-leader, performing across Europe, Scandinavia, UK, China and the USA as a soloist, duo with renowned artists Amal Murkus, Senny Camara, Michele Rabbia and Christophe Marguet – and also his quartets Silent Fires and Hitra

I want to thank you for visiting the website and checking out my Contemporary Jazz and Latin music project – “Dreams To Reality.” It is the result of a very personal journey and a dream come true. For many years, I carried the inner desire to create music that would represent what was playing in my head, although I was never able to fully document or express that music until this CD. So as a result of many pieces of the puzzle falling into place along with several miracles, I am happy to present to you, the listener, my CD of original compositions. Engin Ozsahin

Born: December 3, 1986

Engin Özşahin is a jazz pianist and composer. He was born in 1986 and lived in Istanbul, Turkey until his late twenties. His first musical influence was his grandmother, who played classical piano by Schubert, Rachmaninoff and Chopin. At age 6, Engin started to learn classical piano himself and became very interested in the melodies and harmonies of aforementioned classical composers.

Although music and performing was Engin’s passion, his cultural and family environment which consisted of engineers and architects suggested that these professions were the way to go in life. As a result, he completed mechanical engineering and business administration degrees in Istanbul and worked as a business developer in corporate environments following that.

Live People Ensemble

Live People Ensemble is a Moscow-based band that was founded in 2009 by Russian pianist and composer Natalya Skvortsova. They play original music that feels stylistically close to contemporary European jazz, while also incorporating influences from the band members’ personal and cultural backgrounds. The musicians use various elements of jazz and art music tradition, folk and world music, and contemporary rhythmic and harmonic-rhythmic structures to convey emotion and live energy in their music. Live People Ensemble performs both original music written by bandleader Natalya Skvortsova and the other band members, and original arrangements of popular jazz pieces

Peter Fraize

Born: August 4, 1965

A distinct voice as both a saxophonist and composer, Peter Fraize is known for his impassioned high-energy playing, intricate and melodic writing, and his "no-boundaries" sensibility. His music draws from deep within the jazz tradition, exploratory free improvisation, modern rock and pop, and music from around the world. Based in Washington, DC, he is also familiar to international audiences through concert appearances in Peru, Japan and Europe. Most recently he toured the UK with his transatlantic organ group ATLANTICUS, appearing at the 2018 Love Supreme Festival.

Florian Hoefner

Born: August 29, 1982

Born and raised in Germany, trained in New York City and now based in Canada, Juno Award-winning jazz pianist and composer, Florian Hoefner, draws from a myriad of influences that culminate in his unique brand of modern jazz. Praised as a “composer-bandleader of insightful resolve” by the New York Times and a “harmonically daring pianist … reaching toward new sonic territory” by Downbeat, Florian Hoefner continues to make waves as an inventive creator and performer of exciting contemporary jazz. 

He has released 6 albums under his own name and many more as a sideman. “First Spring,” the debut album with his Canadian trio with Andrew Downing on bass and Nick Fraser on drums has received 2 East Coast Music Awards in 2020 and was nominated for a 2021 JUNO in the category “Jazz Album of the Year: Group.” The trio released its sophomore album, “Desert Bloom” on June 3rd 2022 on Alma Records. It was nominated for 2 East Coast Music Awards and won a Juno Award in 2023. As a touring artist he has played at venues and festivals on 5 different continents and has worked with artists including Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jerry Bergonzi, Norma Winstone, Joe LaBarbera and Seamus Blake. He is the winner of 2 ASCAP Young Jazz Composer Awards and the Stingray Rising Star Award at the Montreal Jazz Festival.

Max Gerl

Born: February 22, 1995

Max Gerl is an acoustic and electric bassist hailing from Dallas, Texas. Gerl picked up the electric bass at 11 and the acoustic bass at 15. He quickly became an integral part of the Dallas music scene before moving to Boston, MA, where he graduated with honors from Berklee College of Music ('17). As a member of the Dallas, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles musical communities, Gerl has performed or recorded with Tia Fuller, Jordan Rakei, Makaya McCraven, Stanley Clarke, Bob Mintzer, Mike Moreno, Shaun Martin, Bernard Wright, Sean Jones, Marshall Gilkes, Chris Cheek, James Francies, Beka Gochiashvili, Cameron Graves, and Mike Mitchell at historic venues such as Ronnie Scott’s, the North Sea Jazz Festival, and the Monterey Jazz Festival

John Kalleen

Born: February 19, 1958

John Kalleen - Trumpet and Flugelhorn “I love music!” exclaims John who was exposed to music at a very young age. “Music was always being played or performed in my house, everything from Miles to Mozart.” Beginning on piano at the age of eight under the tutelage of his pianist/composer father, John soon started having his own ideas about music. At a jazz concert John heard how the young Freddie Hubbard played the trumpet and it became clear to John that he would express his musical creativity with the trumpet. John’s mother bought him his first trumpet at the age of twelve

Recording artist Jack Furlong has been called many things, including “the James Bond of jazz,” “The Man With The Golden Gun,” and “late to dinner.” What is there to say about Jack Furlong that hasn’t already been said about a fine wine? (Well, except that he isn’t made from grapes…) Furlong is known as a performer, composer, arranger, woodwind doubler, and educator. A baritone saxophonist by trade, Jack diversifies his sound to other saxophones and woodwinds to achieve the proper tone color, mood, and musical message he hears and wishes to portray
