Conchita Castillo

Music has been a passion and a constant in Conchita's life since birth and probably before. Both her parents are great music lovers and, like her, have always been singing or whistling around the house. Conchita started singing in choirs as a child and has always been fascinated by harmonies. Funnily enough, it is only later in life that she started appreciating jazz, which has quickly become her favourite genre! Presently, Conchita is the vocalist in a jazz band and a folk band, and she also sings with a medieval ensemble. Miguel Sacristan

Born: July 23, 1961

Miguel Sacristan Muñoz Professor of Piano and Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid.He has studied with Agustin Serrano, Luis de Pablo, Claudio Abbado, Nicanor Zabaleta and Padre Sopeña,Chair and Professor of Fine Arts, among others. His father Miguel Sacristan Ramos, Chair of Direction and Composition at the Conservatory, has been his mentor. Studied at the Escuela de Música Creativa in Madrid (1984-87), where he later taught Harmony and Composition (1992-96). Studied guitar with guitarist, arranger and prestigious session musician Fredi Marugán (1986-89) and with guitarist and contemporary composers Joe Morris and Jon Damian (Boston, Ma., 1989-91). In 1991 he obtained a Diploma in Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music in Boston (U.S.A.). Gnu Trio

The Gnu Trio was formed by three Argentine musicians living in Madrid, Spain at the beginning of 2007. The saxophonist, Marcelo Peralta, and guitarist, Guillermo Bazzola, first met in 1982 and have since collaborated on countless musical projects both in Spain and Argentina. Andrés Litwin, the youngest member, arrived in Madrid at the end of 2006 after living in Holland and studying at the prestigious Amsterdam Conservatory. Gnu Trio’s musical sensibility is innovative--it cannot be pigeonholed--and knows no stylistic boundaries. Julio Awad

Born: April 3, 1977

Born on April 3, 1977, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He began studying piano at the young age of 7 at the López Buchardo National Conservatory. Later, he expanded his studies in Composition, Arranging, and Orchestral Conducting under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Juan Carlos Cirigliano and Lito Valle. At the age of 14, he started playing the piano and composing music for television programs and theater productions.

Marcelo Peralta

Born: March 5, 1961

Marcelo Peralta Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 5th, 1961, Marcelo Peralta, performer, teacher, composer and arranger, plays all the saxes, piano, accordion, and the Latin American aerophones. He studied piano and music theory at the Antiguo Conservatorio Beethoven, where he obtained a teaching certificate in 1979. At the age of 18, he began to play the baritone sax, showing a particular interest in the music of Serge Chaloff; inspired by John Coltrane, Albert Ayler and Ornette Coleman, he went on to Iearn tenor sax, then alto and finally soprano. While studying harmony and composition under tango composer Sebastian Piana, he taught himself to play trumpet, trombone, tuba, violin, clarinet and other Latin American folk instruments

Igor Prochazka

Born: February 6, 1975

Pianist and composer Igor Prochazka was born in Zlin (Czech Republic) in a family of entertainment music professionals. After about ten years of basic classical piano education in Duesseldorf, Germany, he worked as bar pianist, presenting pop and jazz classics in exclusive restaurants and hotels. Now he is based in Madrid, Spain, being member of various jazz and world music projects. Currently he is mainly working with his band Igor Prochazka Trio with Christian Perez (double- bass) and Diego Gutiérrez (drums), some of the most in-demand musicians in the capital's Jazz scene.

Anthony Ocaña

Born: March 7, 1980

Composer/guitarist with a personal voice where layers of different genres – classical, contemporary, minimal, pop, progressive rock, Caribbean, Latin American and jazz - are interwoven in a unique, unclassifiable style. He is born in the Dominican Republic on March 7th, 1980, is educated in the island, the USA and Spain, then becomes a Spanish citizen in 2007. His musical path begins at age 5 when he asks his father for piano lessons; once he starts learning music, he knows he would dedicate his entire life to it. At age 14 he begins studying classical guitar and enrols in the National Conservatory of Music in Dominican Republic studying with guitarist Ruben Gonzalez
