Han Chung Eun

Han Chung Eun, one of the most influential woodwind players today, has been a focus of the artistic scenes of the Korean traditional music and its modern manifestations in Korea. Trained in the tradition of classical court music of Korea that traces its origin back to 5th ~6th century, Chung Eun pushes the boundary of Korean bamboo flutes, Daekeum and Sokeum to cross over the genre and brings the acoustic and soulful sound of bamboo flute to today's audience. Geoff Warren

Born:
A prominent exponent of jazz, contemporary music and ethnic crossover, Geoff Warren is a music graduate from London University who studied flute with Derek Honner of the Royal Academy of Music. He started his jazz career as flautist/saxophonist in the ranks of Graham Collier with whom he played at major music festivals in Europe and Asia, working alongside famous musicians on the British jazz scene such as John Surman, Kenny Wheeler, Harry Beckett , John Marshall and Roy Babbington. In 2012 Geoff conducted the BBC Big Band in their tribute to Graham Collier at the London Jazz Festival, and went on to conduct and oversee the recording of Collier’s last works for the double CD Luminosity, released in 2014

María Toro

María Toro was born in 1979 in A Coruña, (Galicia) Spain. She becomes inseparable from her flute from the age of eight. After achieving her degree in music she perpetrates into traditional Galician and Portuguese music and begins to show interest in jazz and other popular styles of music. This clear interest takes her to Madrid in 2005. Here, she is able to combine both study and practice at the Escuela de Música Creativa. During this time Toro achieves various awards and scholarships and takes part in prestigious musical seminars in Spain and throughout Europe with eminent musicians such as Jorge Rossy, Michael Kanan, Peter Bernstein and Benny Golson among others. In 2006, simultaneous to her studies and concerts, she plunges into flamenco. In the following years she becomes absorbed with the great flamenco masters, particularly Jorge Pardo. From her interaction in the Amor de Dios School she begins to work with various flamenco companies performing in theatres and music halls over the world. In April 2011, Toro moves to New York. New York City will serve as the defining element in her musical career, performing in acclaimed spots such as Blue Note, Joe´s Pub and 55th Bar where she will share the stage with music artists such as Savion Glover, Jack DeJonette, Jean-Michel Pilc, Ross Pederson and Richard Bona. In March 2012, Toro forms part of the Flamencos en Route company performing in frequent flamenco events in Switzerland and Germany. In July 2013, she establishes herself in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil combining her work in Europe and her musical career in New York. It is in New York where she records her first album, A Contraluz. In this album Maria composes, arranges and interprets seven compositions that are born in flamenco and bred in jazz together with renowned musicians in both genres. A Contraluz truthfully reflects Maria Toro’s musical achievements and a promising artistic career.

Marc Berner

Marc Berner began his musical odyssey in Port Chester, New York at the age of seven, playing the odd combination of bugle and piccolo. His fingers couldn't cover the holes of the originally desired clarinet, thus piccolo was the woodwind suggested. The c flute followed soon after, and some years later came the alto, bass and contra bass flutes, as well as the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones, along with some trumpet. Marc's recording debut came in 1973 with his then neighbor, Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul and Mary), playing flute on Noel's Something New and Fresh album
