Bobby Durham

Part of the enormous Philadelphia family tree of jazz players, Bobby Durham has amassed a long list of impressive jazz credits while alternating residencies between Italy and his hometown. He is perhaps best known as a member of several of the virtuoso pianist Oscar Peterson's classic trios from the '50s and as one of the great jazz singer Ella Fitzgerald's most sensitive accompanists, although jazz fans that are into the smoking organ trio sound will know Durham from his associations with the likes of turbaned Charles Earland or the innovative organist Shirley Scott. Durham is a personal favorite of jazz producer Norman Granz, who has turned to Durham again and again for help with his projects involving the likes of Fitzgerald and Basie as well as using Durham as the rhythm section drummer for jam session encounters with the likes of pianist Tommy Flanagan, guitarist Joe Pass, and trumpeter Harry "Sweets" Edison, among many

Tanel Ruben

Today, Tanel Ruben has become one of Estonia’s most influential and famous jazz drummers known as an extremely active and versatile musician. He did not start his music studies with drum lessons, however; instead, he firstly became acquainted with the accordion and the double bass in a music class and a music school. Since puberty, Tanel has devoted his interest and energy mostly to playing drums and composing. As a result of that, he now has numerous multifarious projects, him being the creative leader. At the same time, he also actively participates in projects and ensembles called into existence by other people in Estonia as well as abroad. Cooperation has brought Tanel together with many different musicians from Europe, Russia and the United States

Daihachi Oguchi
Born:
Daihachi Oguchi, the master Japanese drummer who led the spread of the art of taiko drumming to the United States and throughout Japan. Oguchi helped found top taiko groups, including San Francisco Taiko Dojo, which has performed in Hollywood movies and on international tours since forming 40 years ago. A former jazz musician, Oguchi was one of the first to elevate the traditional folk sounds of taiko to modern music played in concert halls, not just festivals and shrines. He led and starred in the performance of drumming and dance at the closing ceremony of the 1998 Nagano Olympics. Along with Kabuki theater and ukiyoe woodblock prints, taiko is one of Japan’s most popular and respected art forms in the West

Gary Johnson
Drummer, Gary Johnson, has been keeping time for 37 years with, among others Scott Hamilton, Dave McKenna, Ken Peplowski, Keely Smith and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra. For four years, he traveled extensively with the Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson. While touring, he accompanied artists such as Buddy DeFranco, Dizzy Gillespie, Rosemary Clooney, Frankie Laine. Helen Forest, Connie Haines and Ruby Braff. Casey Dodd
Born:
Casey Dodd was born March 19th, 1986 in Satellite Beach, Florida. He began playing Drums when he was 10 years old and quickly began playing along to the radio and old Vinyl records. Casey's first introduction to Jazz was in high school when he joined Satellite High School's Zero Hour Jazz Ensemble. A few years later, Casey and the Jazz Ensemble performed at the University of North Texas Jazz Festival in Denton, Texas. This experience cemented his love for jazz and influenced his decision to attend the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. While at UNF, Casey studied Percussion with Charlotte Mabrey and was an active performer in Jacksonville
