Arcangelo Pezzella

Born: November 25, 1991

Arcangelo Pezzella is the founder, guitarist, arranger, composer and leader of the AP Project, a modern jazz band from Italy. He's currently a student of the Conservatory of Naples (IT) - Jazz Guitar Degree programme - while caring all aspects of his musical projects. The AP Project's debut release is "Out Of The Blue", a sonic journey that explores a world of sounds in jazz.

Ben Bierman

Born: March 15, 1954

Ben Bierman is a Brooklyn-based trumpet player, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. In his compositions he incorporates elements of jazz, blues, Latin music, and the Western art music tradition. His music can be heard on Some Takes On the Blues (Plaza Street Music PSM 101, 2019) and on Beyond Romance: Songs by Ben Bierman (New Focus Recordings FCR 141, 2013). As a trumpet player, Ben has performed with a wide array of artists, including Johnny Copeland, B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Pacheco, Machito, Johnny Colon, Archie Shepp, and Arthur Blythe. He is the author of Listening to Jazz (Oxford University Press), has essays in numerous books and journals, and is an Associate Professor at John Jay College, City University of New York

Richard Sorce

Sarah Jerrom

Born: November 8, 1979

Sarah Jerrom is a JUNO-nominated Canadian vocalist, pianist, composer and arranger specializing in jazz and creative music, taking her inspiration from lyric-driven melodies, genre-defying instrumentation and experimental soundscapes. As a bandleader, Sarah has released four critically-acclaimed albums to date: Magpie, a double album featuring her original eighty-six-minute suite for extended jazz orchestra (2024, TPR Records),  Dream Logic (2021, TPR Records), which showcases a collection of original songs recorded by her contemporary jazz quartet of the same name, The Yeats Project (2017), featuring W.B. Yeats’s poetry set to original music and orchestrated for a nine-piece chamber jazz ensemble, and Illuminations (2007), which encompasses original compositions, jazz-inspired arrangements of contemporary songs and traditional jazz standards.

Russ Spiegel

Born: March 30, 1962

Groovy, swinging, and sophisticated at the same time, versatile guitarist and composer Russ Spiegel hits all the right notes. Covering a wide variety of styles from rock and blues to funk and Latin and hard-swinging modern and post-modern jazz, Russ has been garnering rave reviews for his performances all around the world.

Russ Spiegel is a commissioned composer and arranger as well as a highly respected international guitarist, bandleader, writer, musicologist, and award-winning sound engineer. Amy E. Denio

Born: June 9, 1961

Denio (rhymes with ‘Ohio’ or ‘gennaio’) is a multi- instrumentalist composer and singer based in Hansville, WA. Home-taper since the Dark Ages of Analogue, she started her label Spoot Music in 1986, with the release of her first cassette, ‘No Bones.’ Since then, she’s recorded & released over 60 cassettes, LPs and CDs created solo and with an array of international musicians. Her parents played jazz semi-professionally, and she grew up in a musical household. She was inducted into the Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame in 2015. An award-winning composer, she has been creating & producing soundscores for dance, theater and film since 1983

Mike Holober

Born: April 21, 1957

Described by Downbeat Magazine as “one of the finest modern composer/arrangers of our time” Mike Holober was awarded the 2022 American Academy of Arts and Letters Andrew Imbrie Award in Music.  His recent big band recording, "Mike Holober & The Gotham Jazz Orchestra:  Hiding Out" (ZOHO Music, 2019) was nominated for a 2020 GRAMMY® Award (Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album), and features two of his extended works for jazz orchestra.

Trained as a classical pianist and conductor, Mike began his apprenticeship as a jazz pianist and composer after moving to New York City in 1986. He has released six recordings as a leader, and can be heard on over 70 recordings as a sideman.  His projects include The Mike Holober Quintet, Balancing Act (a jazz octet with voice), The Gotham Jazz Orchestra, and most recently The Marvin Stamm/Mike Holober Quartet.  

James Edward Hill

Born: December 15, 1990

James Hill is an award-winning Toronto-based pianist and composer. He is a member of multiple bands, most notably BADBADNOTGOOD and Autobahn Trio. As a co-leader he has released three albums with his band Autobahn Trio, and is currently working on a studio album with BADBADNOTGOOD. Further, Hill is near completing a solo piano project under his pseudonym Projectwhatever, which he intends to release in 2020. Hill is now touring internationally with BADBADNOTGOOD, while the release of his new self-led project titled LOCAL TALENT (December 13, 2019) quickly approaches. Tracy Yang

Born: February 17, 1988

Born and raised in Taiwan, Tracy Yang has established herself as a composer, musician, and cross-discipline artist in New York City. Recognized with the Charlie Parker Jazz Composition Prize, she's also been honored with grants from respected institutions like New Music USA, New York Foundation for the Arts, and Pathways to Jazz. She has collaborated with esteemed ensembles such as The Army Jazz Ambassadors, BMI/New York Jazz Orchestra, SWOJO, and Taipei Jazz Orchestra. In addition to her musical accomplishments, Yang's expertise extends to the dance world, where she collaborates with renowned dance institutions, including Martha Graham, Paul Taylor, Limón, Juilliard School, and ABT, to name a few
