William Carter

Born:
Los Angeles-born William Carter graduated from Stanford University in 1957. He became a professional photographer, writer and editor while concurrently pursuing fine art photography. In New York, Carter worked as a book editor for Harper & Row, 1961-63. Based in Beirut 1964-66, he published in LIFE, the London Sunday Times, Geographical Magazine and others. In 1966-69 he freelanced from London, doing assignments for such clients as The New York Times, Women's Wear Daily, and TWA's Annual Report. Returning to San Francisco in 1969, Carter turned to longer-term projects. He published his first book of text and pictures, "Ghost Towns of the West," in 1971

Seán Mac Erlaine

Seán Mac Erlaine is a Dublin-based woodwind instrumentalist and composer, recognised as one of Ireland's most forward-thinking jazz musicians. Seán works in a variety of settings maintaining a busy performance schedule in Ireland and internationally, working in free improvisation, contemporary jazz, folk music and experimental theatre. An accomplished instrumentalist, Seán plays alto and soprano saxophones as well as clarinet and bass clarinet. He holds a first degree honours Masters of Music (Jazz Performance) from DIT and a Diploma in Jazz Performance awarded by The Guildhall School of Music, London

Kinan Azmeh

Hailed as a “Virtuoso” and “Intensely Soulful” by the New York Times and “Spellbinding” by the New Yorker, and “Incredibly Rich Sound” by the CBC. His utterly distinctive sound across different musical genres has gained him international recognition as clarinetist and composer. Kinan was recently named composer-in-residence with Classical Movements for the 2017-2018 season.
Kinan has been touring the world as soloist, composer and improviser. Notable appearances include: Opera Bastille, Paris; Tchaikovsky Grand Hall, Moscow; Carnegie Hall and the UN’s general assembly, New York; the Royal Albert hall, London; Teatro Colon, Buenos Aires; der Philharmonie; Berlin; the Library of Congress, the Kennedy Center, Washington DC; the Mozarteum, Salzburg, Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie and the Damascus opera house for its opening concert in his native Syria.

Gábor Winand
Gábor Winand started his musical studies on the clarinet, and then after finishing primary school turned to singing. At the age of 19 he was admitted to the jazz department of the Bartók Béla Conservatory, where his teacher was Attila Garai. After completing the school he soon found himself in the band of Gyula Babos, one of the great personalities of the Hungarian jazz world. After meeting Gábor Gadó in 1990, he started to work with his band Joy, and they made successful appearances at many festivals. Later he often played with the Trio Stendhal, led by the saxophonist László Dés, with the ESP orchestra, led by the trombonist László Goz, and with the pianist György Vukán

Nico Gori

Born:
Born in Florence (Italy) on September 13, 1975, started studying clarinet at the age of 6, graduating from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence in 1993. He continued to perfect his art by attending seminars held by famous jazz musicians such as Dave Liebman, Tony Scott etc., performing, since 1987, in theatres, clubs, festivals, and on Italian RAI Television broadcasts. He has given many concerts as a soloist as well as performing in big bands, symphonic orchestras and jazz groups both as leader or as sideman in situations ranging from classical music to jazz, from funk music to acid jazz. Aaron Novik

Aaron Novik is a recent New York transplant that lived and performed in the bay area (San Francisco, Oakland etc.) for 17 years. There he lead the bands Gubbish, Kipple, Floating World, Love Triangle Elementary School, Simulacra, Thorny Brocky and made records under his own name as well, including the album “Secrets of Secrets” which was released on Tzadik records in 2012. Aaron also performed with the bass clarinet quartet Edmund Welles, the Nathan Clevenger Group, Telepathy, Colin Stetson’s Transmission, Graham Connah and most notably in Fred Frith’s Gravity band, which has played festivals around the world. He currently lives in Woodside, Queens and leads several ensembles including No Signal, O+O+, and Dante Counterstamp

Raffaele Amenta
Raffaele Amenta plays saxophone and clarinet. He studied in Bologna. Raffaele Amenta also teaches music at Cultural Association "La Barberia" in Bologna. Took his first steps as a professional in 2007 and founded the jazz quartet "ProgettoLigeia". The band's music focuses on the compositions of Thelonious Monk and original compositions of their own.
