Maxine Carol Martin

Clarinetist and Tenor Saxophonist Maxine Carol Martin is a Hartford, CT. resident. Her album "Fragments And Colors Of Me" has a variety of music with jazz, r& b, and Latin influences. Most of the compositions are originals—some are instrumentals and others are songs that she sings on, along with her clarinet and saxophone playing. She's joined by pianist Warren Byrd, guitarist Sinan Bakir, bassist Matt Dwonszyk, and drummer Cemre Dogan. She has performed with them occasionally at several venues throughout Connecticut and with other musicians such as: percussionist Abu Alvin Carter, Sr., banjoist and guitarist Jim Mercik, singers Margaux Hayes and Nicki Mathis, drummer Michael Augeri, and bassist Paul Fuller. Maxine has also lived and worked in New York for over 20 years and has performed in many International Women in Jazz events with bassists Carline Ray, Miriam Sullivan, and Kim Clarke; pianists Linda Presgrave and Patrizia Scascitelli; drummer Bernice Brooks, and other artists

Clarinetist Gregory Agid was born in San Antonio, Texas and grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. He got his first clarinet at the age of seven—and when his family moved to New Orleans five years later, Agid discovered jazz. After attending Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp, where he learned from legendary musicians Alvin Batiste, Kidd Jordan, and Clyde Kerr, Agid was accepted to the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA). Here, Batiste became his mentor. “Alvin Batiste once told me that the clarinet is also like a jealous mistress, and the moment you don't give her the attention she wants, she becomes spiteful and unruly,” Agid remembers

Rod has established a career as a performer, teacher, arranger and entrepreneur with a special interest in jazz. Trained as a classical clarinet player, Rod adapted quickly to saxophone and drew on the influence of Benny Goodman, Stan Getz and Don Burrows. Early experience in bands developed his skills of transcribing and arranging. On Broadway (saxophone soloist), Art Lande, Yo La Tengo, the Ohad Talmor/Steve Swallow Sextet, Alice Coltrane, sculptor Martin Kersels (Whitney Biennial 2009) and the Losers Lounge among others.
