Clarinetist/Saxophonist/Composer Mike McGinnis has worked with some of today’s most innovative and influential artists including Anthony Braxton’s Trillium E Orchestra, Steve Coleman's Aquarius Ingress (Ravi Coltrane, Tony Malaby, Miguel Zenon and Chris Speed), the Lonnie Plaxico Group, Stew & Heidi (of Passing Strange/the Negro Problem), Fela! On Broadway (saxophone soloist), Art Lande, Yo La Tengo, the Ohad Talmor/Steve Swallow Sextet, Alice Coltrane, sculptor Martin Kersels (Whitney Biennial 2009) and the Losers Lounge among others. He has released several recordings as a leader and/or co-leader with the four bags, OK|OK, DDYGG and Between Green.

Michael Lowenstern, widely considered one of the finest bass clarinetists in the world, has performed, recorded and toured as a soloist and with ensembles of every variety. Michael has written music for concert, film, dance and various other new media over the span of his 20-year career. Dixieland Crackerjacks

Founder and bandleader of the Dixieland Crackerjacks is Bert Brandsma. He is one of the few saxophonists in the Netherlands to have earned Bachelors degrees in music for both Jazz and Classical music. Besides playing all members of the saxophone family, ranging from C-soprano till Bass saxophone and the clarinet, his activities also include singing, arranging, composing and even being assistant drummer. Starting at the age of twelve, he lives his passion for the classical jazz music. Initially as a passionate youth, then as an engaged music student and eventually as a fulltime performing artist. He guested with numerous bands worldwide, like: The Storyville Brassband (USA), Dukes of Dixieland (USA), Maryland Jazzband (Ger), Uralsky All Stars (Russia), New Orleans Syncopaters (NL), Dutch Palladium Orchestra (NL), Jazz-O-Matic-Four (NL), and soloists like Beryl Bryden, Ian Wheeler, Tony Nüsser (First drummer of the Dutch Swing College Band in 1945), Lee Towers, Georgie Fame and Olivier Franc. Besides this, he performed more than a 100 concerts in the Cologne Opera House, recorded a lot of CD's at various studios and played concerts in classical music with symphony orchestra, saxophone quartet or as a soloist. Under his guidance and leadership the Dixieland Crackerjacks has rapidly grown to a top quality band that is much in demand.

Paul Cosentino

Born:

Paul Cosentino has been a full-time musician and bandleader for over 30 years, specializing in classic jazz and popular music from the 1920s to the 1940s. Paul plays an antique Albert System clarinet, which gives him a wonderfully distinctive sound not often heard on today’s bandstands. In addition to providing vocals, Paul also splits time on the alto and tenor saxophones. Paul has an extensive repertoire of tunes encompassing the Great American Songbook- written by some of the best-known composers of American popular song. He is also well versed in early New Orleans jazz, the Swing Era, big band riffs, and everything in between. Paul is known globally for his enthusiastic, energetic, and powerful performances.

Allan Vache

Allan Vache was graduated from Roosevelt Elementary School, Rahway Junior High School, and Rahway High School, Rahway, New Jersey 1959-1971. He also attended Jersey City State College, Jersey City, New Jersey 1971-1975. At this time he studied with David Dworkin of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, and independently with famed jazz artist Kenny Davern. From 1972-1975 Allan also performed many professional engagements with such jazz greats as Bobby Hackett, Wild Bill Davison, Pee Wee Erwin, Gene Krupa, Dick Hyman, Max Kaminsky, Clark Terry, Dick Wellstood, Ed Hubble, Cliff Leeman, Bob Haggart, Jack Lesberg, and many others

Mark Sowlakis

Born:

Mark G. Sowlakis was introduced to music at the age of 4 through piano lessons; by age 11 he was playing the alto saxophone. A student of William Trimble throughout high school, he was a founding member of The Nuclear Whales Saxophone Orchestra and recorded with steel guitar wizard Bob Brozman. Shortly after his high school graduation he began journeying to the Los Angeles area to study clarinet, flute and saxophone with reknowned teacher Victor Morosco. At this same time he was introduced to master tenor saxophonist Warne Marsh, who became not only a musical influence but an inspirational friend and mentor who influenced his ideas about jazz improvisation and much later his approach to teaching. His musical studies then took him to San Francisco State University where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Clarinet Performance, studying there with Don Carroll of the San Francisco Symphony

Mort Weiss

Born:

Mort Weiss is a bebop-oriented clarinet player with ten albums as leader to date. After having taken 30-odd years off from playing, Weiss came to musical life as a leader in 2003 with The Mort Weiss Quartet (AKA Mort Wiess Meets Joey DeFrancesco) (SMS Jazz, 2003) following with B3 and Me (recorded in 2003 but not released until 2006). According to jazz writer Scott Yanow, "Clarinet-organ groups are far from common. In fact, prior to Mort Weiss' debut CD with organist Joey DeFrancesco, it is possible that combination had never been utilized before." Indeed, but this didn't stop Weiss and DeFrancesco from doing so.

Multi-instrumentalist and composer, Oscar lives in Brooklyn since 1992. He has worked with Lee Konitz, Anthony Braxton, Gerry Hemingway, Dewey Redman and Paul Motion. He is currently performing with Tim Berne’s Snakeoil, Endangered Blood (Chris Speed, Jim Black, Trevor Dunn) and colead with Jacob Garchik, the Mexico-inspired Banda De Los Muertos. He plays alto saxophone, clarinet, bass clarinet and drums.

Today, Andy Firth is widely regarded as one of the most outstanding clarinet players in the world, having played internationally with some of the greatest performers, bands and orchestras in both classical and jazz music
