Bobby Selvaggio

Bobby Selvaggio is one of the leading alto saxophone voices on today's jazz scene. In the words of pianist Kenny Werner, “Bobby is among the best of players out there,” and legendary saxophonist Joe Lovano praises Bobby by calling him “one of the few young saxophonists on the scene today that captures you with his strong presence, focus, and sound.” Bobby, who grew up in the Cleveland area, earned his Bachelor of Music in Music Performance from Kent State University. Mark Corroto's Best Releases of 2017

And what a year it was. With all hurricanes, raging fires, and end-of-the-world politics, we were fortunate to have the magical salve that is music. Complied here are my favorite releases of this past year. I tried to pare down a long list of 50 to 10, but it was impossible. The music you see below ...
Paul Tynan & Aaron Lington Bicoastal Collective: Chapter Five

Chapter Five is the fifth recording by Paul Tynan / Aaron Lington's Bicoastal Collective, which derives its name from the fact that trumpeter Tynan lives in Nova Scotia, saxophonist Lington in San Jose, CA. What sets this CD apart from the others is that the Collective has morphed from a smaller version to a full-fledged eighteen- ...

It's a heady assignment that many have tried over the years. In fact, there have been more failures in this ...

The ease in such an endeavor also makes it somewhat of a double-edged sword. Just because something is possible doesn't always mean it should be done. As ...

Bobby Selvaggio: Short Stories

Like the Japanese calligraphy art know as ensō, the condensed and succinct introduction alto saxophonist Bobby Selvaggio delivers on the track Price Of Being (Intro)" is a disciplined stroke, delivered with an ease and elegance that belies the character and control required for such a statement. He works his instrument through this exercise with such command ...

La recente uscita di Golden Age, debutto da leader di Nir Felder (Okeh 2014), conferma i positivi riconoscimenti che il chitarrista ottiene sulla scena musicale di New York.
