Al Swainger

Al Swainger is a musician who happens to be a bassist. He is also a composer, improviser and FX enthusiast. His eclectic tastes have led to making music in a wide variety of genres over the years with literally hundreds of musicians. Covering ground from pop to progressive rock , traditional to modern jazz and fully improvised soundsculpture. Al is always keen to explore new musical territory. Currently he is focusing his unique style on his own experimental composition project Pointless Beauty. An album (After & Before) is due for release later this year featuring Neil Yates, Mike Outram, George & Mark Whitlam. Other current projects include recordings with omnifusion trio Snow Giants – UN (Mike Outram, 05Ric), the Art Trip – The Music of Art Pepper (Alan Barnes, Craig Milverton, Nick Millward) and art-rock band GRICE – Alexandrine (featuring Grice, 05Ric, Luca Calabrese, Richard Barbieri, Steve Jansen, Hossam Ramzy, Steve Bingham, B.J.Cole)

Thomas Helton is a composer and bassist who writes and performs music in both solo and ensemble settings. As a composer Mr. Helton was awarded a Houston Arts Alliance Individual Artist Fellowship Grant in 2007 for the commission and premiere of a new work for fifteen-piece ensemble, the Torture Chamber Ensemble. He was awarded an artist residency for the commission and premiere of Pride from DiverseWorks ArtSpace in Houston in October 2004, a work for ten-piece ensemble and video projection created in collaboration with video artist Maria del Carmen Montoya. Other new music commissions include 5 works for the Michele Brangwen Dance Ensemble

The Swedish bass-phenomenon and band-leader Joel Illerhag, is considered to be among the most gifted talents at the Scandinavian music-scene. Despite his young age (26) has he already proven that he has something extraordinary and new to offer! Joel Illerhag sextet is the name of Joel’s main project as a leader. He has established a collective with prominent musicians on the Danish music scene. This ensemble is characterized by 6 strong players who each contribute to a common expression that moves between wild, beautiful melodies and abstract rythms. !In the year 2012 will he attend the joint postgraduate program for young elite jazz performers and composers at three European conservatories in Amsterdam, Berlin and Copenhagen

Comfortable in genres ranging from duo to big band, traditional to avant garde, she has performed and recorded with Charli Persip and Superband, Ralph Peterson and the Fo'tet, Avery Brooks with Craig Harris, Howard Johnson and Gravity, Dakota Staton, Kevin Mahogany, the Firey String Sistas and the all woman big band DIVA, among many others.
