Gary Brown - Bass

Born into a family of musicians Gary Brown's inevitable musical career began at an early age. By his eleventh birthday Gary was already performing in jazz bands with his two brothers and his father, jazz trumpeter Wilbert Brown. Gary went on to form his own bands and develop a talent and reputation as a skilled and versatile bassist. While enrolled in San Jose State University's Art/Design program Gary came to realize that music was his true calling and made the decision to make it his life and his career. After leaving school he continued to study privately with the renowned Skip Parnell, a teacher and lecturer from the esteemed Philadelphia Academy of Music. Cícero Lee began his professional career in 1999. Since then he has been part of Lisbon's vibrant music scene, recording and performing alongside artists of various musical genres. The names Luís Represas, Júlio Resende, Victor Zamora, José Mário Branco, Sérgio Godinho, Carlos do Carmo, Pedro Madaleno, José Salgueiro, Salomão Soares, Ivan Lins, Elisa Rodrigues or Desidério Lázaro, Gene Garcia, José Salgueiro are just some of the many with whom he has shared music and stage and that have shaped him as an artist.

As a leader, he has recorded 4 albums: "Ventos" (2013), "Those Who Stay" (2015), "Na Casa Da Nuvem" (2020) and "Resilience" (2022).

Katie Ernst

Katie Ernst is described by the Chicago Tribune as "a versatile young bassist who plays in far-flung bands and sings with uncommon delicacy and authenticity." She is co-leader of the adventurous Chicago-based jazz trio Twin Talk, folk-jazz duo Wayfaring, indie rock band Edith Judith, and has received widespread critical acclaim for her Dorothy Parker poetry song cycle Little Words, which premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.

Daniel Toledo

Born: June 11, 1991

Ecuadorian bassist and composer. He quickly begins to take stage in the various scenarios of his home town and at an early age became part of CoM University San Francisco de Quito where he did most of his training. Currently a full time faculty music in the bass department and ensembles at this Berklee International Network. In July 2009 gets a full scholarship to attend the University of North Texas for one summer. Winner of the 2010 Jazz Envoys who attended the "Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop" and playing at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. Since then he has remained active working with the United States Embassy and the State Department

Christopher Kozak

Born: June 11, 1975

Christopher Kozak is Associate Professor and Director of Jazz Studies at The University of Alabama. He holds both a M.M. in Jazz Arranging and Composition and a B.M. in African-American Jazz Studies in Double Bass Performance from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. While at UMASS he has studied Jazz Composing and Arranging with Jeff Holmes and Double Bass with renowned Double Bassist and composer Salvatore Macchia. He also studied advanced Improvisation Techniques with saxophonist Chris Merz and multi-reeds artist Adam Kolker. Professor Kozak was also a composition student of Yusef Lateef and his methods of Autophysiopsyhic Music. Previously, Professor Kozak was an active performer in the Northeast music scene on the Acoustic and Electric Bass in Jazz, Contemporary, and Popular styles
