Jahmal Nichols, bassist, composer, arranger and producer was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. Jahmal is from a rare breed of bassists/musicians that is able to fluently go from electric bass to acoustic bass on any genre of music. His goal ultimately is to bring the world a new sound and voice on the bass and provide great musicianship to any artist that he works for as a sideman. He comes from a very musical family and was introduced to the bass at the age of 13 after years of watching his father play bass at church and for numerous of local artists on the R&B scene. Kanoa Mendenhall

Kanoa Mendenhall is a bassist living in NYC. Born in Japan, at a young age Kanoa moved with her family to the Central Coast of California, near Monterey. Her parents shared their love of music with her, and from childhood music helped Kanoa through periods of hardship and instability. She started learning the cello at age 10, inspired by Oscar Pettiford, before transitioning to the bass in middle school. After entering high school, she started working in the Bay Area with musicians such as Bruce Forman, Vince Lateano, and Dick Whittington. Kanoa moved to New York City in 2015 to study at Columbia University and the Juilliard School, where she was fortunate to attend studio classes led by Ron Carter, and study bass with Ben Wolfe and Ugonna Okegwo

Marcos Valera

Musician/composer Marcos Varela began his musical career at the age of 17. He started playing the bass in his native Houston, TX while attending the highly acclaimed High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, a school which has been attended by many greats in music and art today. Some alumni include Jason Moran, Robert Glasper, Beyonce Knowles, Brian-Micheal Cox, Eric Harland, Chris Dave, Matt Mullenweg (wordpress inventor) and many more. Inspired by such talented mentors and peers this led Marcos to want to pursue a career in music. Marcos quickly gained recognition in the Houston jazz scene and by the age of 18 was one of the top honorees of the NFAA International Jazz award and a IAJE Clifford Brown/Stan Getz All-Star fellow

TINKR BARFIELD COMPOSER -PERFORMER - PRODUCER - MUSICIAN Eluriel “Tinkr” Barfield releases his new single, City Blues, from his forthcoming album Blended on January, 8th 2018. Tinkr grew up Brooklyn New York’s Red Hook Projects where he began playing bass at age 8 and impressed area professionals with his prowess. Rene Fontaine is a Rhode Island native and accomplished electric and upright bassist who performs regularly with various jazz combos, big bands, theatre groups and classical orchestras. He is the leader of Swing City, a big band he co-founded with his late father and saxophonist, Dick Fontaine. Big band performances include The SOS Big Band, The Moonlighters, The Meadowlarks, Ron Stone and the Milestones, Point & Swing, The Compaq Big Band, Bare Bones Big Band and bands lead by Gerry Deragon, Dick Parent, Ed Rodriguez, Arthur Medeiros, and Frank Castle. Classical performances include the Great Woods Symphony Orchestra, Rhode Island College Orchestra, Fall River Symphony, Metropolitan Wind Symphony, Warwick Symphony, Ocean State Pops, Bel Canto Opera Company and The Norton Singers
