Alan Hampton
Alan Hampton is a busy man. When he’s not on the road, playing bass and singing with Andrew Bird, Meshell N’Degeocello, Gretchen Parlato, and Robert Glasper, he might be in the studio, laying down tracks for Sufjan Stevens, Luke Temple, Derrick Hodge, Kendrick Scott, Esperanza Spalding, or The New Pornographers. But somehow, in between tours and takes, Hampton has also been steadily crafting his own sound. When Hampton released his debut record, The Moving Sidewalk, in 2011, The New York Times proclaimed him a musician with “loads of talent.” Now, after three years of touring, recording, and writing, his sophomore album, Origami for the Fire, is scheduled for release on November 4, 2014.

Henrik Jensen
Qualia is the beautiful debut album from London-based Danish bass player/composer Henrik Jensen and his group Followed By Thirteen. Dedicated to his mother who was incredibly superstitious ¬– Qualia (a philosophical term meaning an unfamiliar word for something that could not be more familiar to each of us – is a collection of melodic, swinging compositions written specifically for this group of musicians for whom Henrik has a real affinity and affection for; and what a band they are!

As well as playing with such luminaries as Maria Schneider, Bjorkestra, Ted Poor, Ingrid Jensen, Donny McCaslin and Darcy James Argue Canniere’s debut album from 2012 was hailed as “beautifully balanced” and “exhilarating” in its five star review by The Guardian. Danish pianist Esben Tjalve’s delicate playing compliments Jensen’s compositions with such taste and underpinning the whole band with his sensitive, unobtrusive dexterity is British drummer Peter Ibbetson who is becoming a favourite amongst leaders on the healthy London scene.

Mike Asetta
mmersed in jazz and a love of music at a very early age within his family home, Mike Asetta was captivated by the playing of Clifford Brown and chose the trumpet as his first primary instrument. A teenager in the tumultuous jazz fusion/rock era and energized by the playing of Jaco Pastorius – Mike’s musical course shifted from the trumpet to the electric bass. Late in his High School years, Mike was transported by the deep, mellow tones emanating from the upright bass, and so began his musical odyssey on the double bass that continues today. Chet Baker and Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen were major influences on Mike’s playing, both Baker and Pedersen were active performers in Europe during the same period Mike was living and touring in that Continent
