Paula Maya

Paula Maya is an award winning Brazilian pianist, keyboardist, singer, composer and recording artist, nominated Best Brazilian Musician living in the US. The official release of her eleventh album Mar da Minha Terra, Yellow House Records, is July 25th 2023.

Paula Maya has songs in several compilations with artists such as Jimmy Cliff. She holds a degree from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro. Her compositions have roots in Brazilian traditional rhythms and melodies, such as maracatú, baião and samba. They are also inspired and influenced by bossa nova, jazz, blues, Cuban music and African music.

Kathy Murray needs no introduction to Austin’s musically faithful. Murray developed her vision of the blues in the formative days of the Austin music scene, jamming with luminaries like Stevie Ray Vaughan, W.C. Clark, and members of the Fabulous Thunderbirds. A blues singer and songwriter par excellence, she first burst on the Austin music scene with her early band Kathy and the Kilowatts, wowing audiences with a tremendous live show, and sharing the stage with everyone from Albert Collins to Koko Taylor. Chris McQueen

Chris McQueen has been playing, writing, and recording music since 1994. He plays guitar in the 3-time Grammy winning band Snarky Puppy, as well as the gritty instrumental quartet Forq, and world music group Bokanté. He has also worked as sideman for Lizz Wright, Banda Magda, Lucy Woodward, Nikka Costa, Myron Butler & Levi, Alejandro Escovedo, and other artists in Texas and New York. He has been featured in several rock musicals over the last decade, most recently David Bowie’s Lazarus at New York Theatre Workshop (featuring Michael C. Rich Harney

Rich Harney has been illuminating the Austin jazz scene as one of its brightest stars for the last decade. His remarkable talents as pianist, composer, and vocalist have gained him acclaim from the Austin American-Statesman as “one of Austin’s most valuable musical resources.” The Austin Jazz Players and Critics Poll honored him in 1993 as Composer of the Year, Best Songwriter, and Best Male Jazz Vocalist. He also received second place honors in the Austin Music Umbrella’s 1992 Composer Competition. In a 1990 competition adjudicated by Branford Marsalis, MUSICIAN Magazine named Harney’s Sextet as one of the “Twelve Best Unsigned Bands Nationwide”. Harney has performed extensively as band leader and ensemble pianist with Gene Ramey, Tony Campise, Carmen Bradford (Count Basie Orchestra), Martin Banks (Duke Ellington Orchestra), Clifford Scott and Ted Piltzecker (Director, Aspen Music Festival’s Jazz Program)

Kurt Thomson

Kurt Thompson started playing trumpet officially in 5th grade. However, by the end of 6th grade, he was last chair and the worst trumpet player in the band. Kurt enjoyed school sports more at that time. During the summer between 6th and 7th grade, Kurt got with a private instructor for the first time and his talent at trumpet became obvious when he actually made an effort. Kurt started 7th grade and by the Christmas concert was 1st chair. Kurt was first chair in almost every band from that point on. Kurt auditioned and made 1st chair and/or solo trumpet at Tennessee All-State Band. Kurt received a full music scholarship to Austin Peay State University where he became 1st chair in every music organization there

Scott Laningham

Scott began working professionally during high school in the late 1970's, performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1978, and has been a popular drummer in the Austin, Texas music scene for 35 years. Today Scott is a core member of souljazz quintet Church on Monday, led by saxophonist Elias Haslanger every Monday night for four years running at the Continental Gallery in Austin, Texas. (Most recent group CD "Elias Haslanger: Live at The Gallery" received 4.5 stars in Downbeat Magazine. Scott is a regular with trumpeter Ephraim Owens, rock singer/songwriter Alejandro Escovedo, and The Trio SMC with guitarist Mitch Watkins and bassist Chris Maresh

Jazz Drummer I had played with Slim Richey and the Jitterbug Vipers since 2009 till this summer 2015, featuring Sarah Sharp. This band won the best jazz band at Austin Chronicle Music Award 2013-14. Actually Slim Richey won the best electric guitarist, Francie Meaux Jeaux won the best bassist, I won the best drummer, and Sarah Sharp got listed in top #6 for CD producing, song writing, female vocal, many more .... We got listed in top 6 for 12 categories! We toured around Oregon/Seattle, NY, LA, UK, and Music Festival at Albenga Italy. Our latest/last CD "Phoebe's Dream" had been on over 90 radio stations and we were featured on the NPR show called "Michael Feinstein's Song Travels" on January 2014, then replayed nationwide in spring 2015, too
