La: Sonaron los ca
ByThe group's touch is quite traditional without sounding dated which is somewhat rare within the short resurgence of old Cuban flavorings brought about by the popularity of the Buena Vista Social Club popularity. Estanislao Sureda Hernández himself, better known as “Laíto,” shined among these solid artists constantly reminding you that this was his Sonora and it certainly was!
Herein you can see the importance of experience, knowledge, simplicity, respect, brevity, and discernment within a given Latin musical context. How rare to find a contemporary quality recording featuring such an experienced aged singer, in rare form, within a traditional Cuban Sonora context! Most of the material, however, is not rare. Many will readily recognize, and enjoy the treatment of “Idilio,” “Yambú pa'gozar,” “Sonaron los cañonazos,” “Mañoño,” and “Cualquiera resbala y cae.”
