Various Artists: Smooth Sounds
You’ve heard them in malls. You’ve heard them in elevators. You’ve heard them while waiting for everything from concert tickets to plumbing supplies. Now, thanks to Razor & Tie Direct and the ubiquitous UMG, you can hear the smooth sounds of Smooth Sounds in the comfort of your own home and car!

Offering Muzak classics like George Benson’s "Breezin’" and Swing Out Sister’s "Am I The Same Girl," this one-of-a-kind collection goes a bit far afield with David Benoit’s over-percussed version of Vince Guiraldi’s sacred "Linus & Lucy," a de-vocalized "Let’s Stay Together" and Pat Metheny’s guitar-less "Chris," but snaps back with Chuck Mangione’s timeless mood-lifter "Feels So Good" and other TV themes including Dave Grusin’s "St. Elsewhere" and the short synthesized bass pops of "Seinfeld" (by Jonathon Wolf, for you trivia buffs!). In addition to S.O.S., the album also offers lyrcial offerings from Oleta Adams, a tune by the Crusaders which is perhaps more appropraite for R&T’s funk collections, plus Grammy-worthy spins from Vanessa Williams and the equally, though differently beautiful Bobby McFerrin. As Dave Koz might say (or blow) on Smooth Sounds, "You Make Me Smile!"
