Pictured with me is a young and still terrific LA bass player, Harvey Newmark. We're playing a dixieland / swing gig with some pretty legendary musicians, Matty Matlock on clarinet, Jackie Coon on trumpet and vocals, Warren Smith on trombone and like Matty and Jackie, a long time member of Bob Crosby's Bobcats. Also playing on guitar was Bud Matlock, Matty's son and an excellent player and for one time only, on piano Hal Koster. I may soon be releasing the five tracks from this 1965 performance, It was an honor to play with these first class jazz artists.
